Lol....sleeping at a Motel 6 is hardly traveling like U2. Get rooms included in your contract....or at least a buyout if you feel like roughing it instead.

Seems to be a lot of animosity regarding having your rack toms mounted on the bass drum as opposed to mounted on a separate stand....

Just because you have X amount of drums doesn't mean you have to bring all of them when you gig. Unless you're looking for a different sound/color/whatever, then why bother? I think you'll get...

I really like double bass, and i use it where it's called for. I never spent as much time as i should practicing it, so i never really developed the foot speed i would have liked.

Taye StudioMaple or Tama StarClassic Maple. They are both pro kits, but fall within your budget (for a used kit).
Honestly there are MANY awesome kits you could get in that price range...just...
