Re: Gear fail - handled beautifully :)

When you use 20", 21" and 24" cymbals, you don't have this issue.

Not to start anything up, but I think seeing someone do something differently, and attaching your own reasoning to it is short...

Re: Bonham amber vistalite purchase/questions

Beautiful! How do you like the rail mount and shell mounted ride holder?

I just got a Bonham kit myself and was thinking of making those same mods.

Re: Ever have a drums finish sway you away from purchasing it?

Man, this thread makes me feel better. I just went through this with my new Vistalite. I generally only buy used, but the only color Zep Vistalite I could find was the amber... and I just really...

Re: Well, I did it. (incoming NKD)

Hahaha, thank you! Biggest battle was actually my bass player, who is also our engineer when we record. Sadly, I eventually ported the head. :(

But the good news is, IT'S HERE. Dealing with...

Re: Well, I did it. (incoming NKD)

Where are you guys from?

Thanks man! By the way, I saw an older thread where you recommended a particular Remo snare side head for Ludwig snares. I ordered one last night for my Supra....

Re: Well, I did it. (incoming NKD)

Definitely not what my dudes are doing. Haha.

The music we play is supposed to be super loud, and the folks that come out wouldn't want it any other way. Is it too loud for most of the rooms we...

Re: Well, I did it. (incoming NKD)

Haha, that's actually the other guitar head. Hovercraft make some cool custom amps. Pretty nifty company. Thanks man.

I don't have any trouble being heard generally, but I've played Vistas...

Haha! I'll make the recommendation. I'm sure they'd love to follow through!

Well, I did it. (incoming NKD)

I've been on the lookout for a new kit.

My main drum set, love of my life, is a 1976 3 ply Ludwig Pro Beat in Bowling Ball Blue Oyster Pearl. (24, 14, 16, 18)

To get that kit, I sold my...

Re: Brand Loyalty

I've never understood why I feel brand loyalty, but I do. It's not like I'm getting paid to advertise, but I prefer certain brands. For a while I was really into Pearl (a lot of that had to do with...

Re: I accept defeat.

Not wrong, but I think saying that tuning sucks is equally one sided. I have never had a single person tell me my high tuned, large drums in my loud metal/rock band sound anything but wonderful.

Re: I accept defeat.

Chipping in my two cents:

I use 14", 16", 18" almost exclusively for gigs. I tune them high. I get compliments from sound guys and people in the audience that my drums always sound so good. ...

Re: Gretsch USA Custom VS Ludwig Legacy

I would say this thread delivers on the sound. These two are far and above my favorite modern kits I've played. You really can't go wrong with either.

Re: Felt sound control on bass drums . . .

I've got one on the front and back of my 3 ply 24" Ludwig kick. Works quite well for me!

Re: Playing as loud as possible? Yay or nay?

This is an interesting one for me. In most circles, I'm considered a pretty loud/powerful drummer. In my main band, I'm playing my hardest/loudest probably 90% of the time. We're also a loud...

Re: I'm really feeling the Ludwig love lately...

This thread speaks to me. For me, Ludwig are the only drums I want to own.

Maybe that seems a little limiting, but it took me 9 or 10 years of playing every drum under the sun before I settled on...

Re: Touring Fees

In the indie world, from bands that I know, it seems like $300 a show is on the higher end. These bands have day jobs that they go back to at the end of tour though. Being in a punk or a metal band...

Re: Question on C&C drums

You'll be fine. Many hardcore/metalcore/alternative use C&C. Great company, great sounding, well made drums. Look at their artist roster, you may find lots and lots of drummers you know.

Re: THE CLASSIFIEDS - For Sale / Wanted

I'd really like a Gibraltar 8606 flat base snare stand if anyone is getting rid of one. Thanks!

Re: Opinions on Pearl Maple Free Floating Snare.

I have one of the maple piccolo free floaters. I actually am trying to sell it, but for a while it was actually my main snare.

I'll echo all the comments in here though. Bright, cutting pop. ...

Re: I love my Supra buuuuuutttttt...

I have wanted a Coliseum for a long while. Finally sold some gear that could pay for one, and found a real clean looking monster on ebay. Super excited about this one.

Any love for the slotted...

Re: THE CLASSIFIEDS - For Sale / Wanted

In addition to the snares and pedal mentioned above, I have a modern Ludwig rail mount for sale. 9.5 mm arm. I bought it and never used it. Great piece of hardware, just didn't work for me. $50.

Re: is anyone rocking a 10x14 rack tom instead of 9x13?

With my main band, I use a 14x10 up front. I love it. When I'm just playing by myself I tend to use a 13x9.
