What are the pros and cons for the different hoop choices - die-cast, the normal kind, and wood? How do the hoops influence the drums tone?

Wrapping your kit?

Does wrapping a stained kit ultimately dampen the tone of the drum or is it safe? I wanted to wrap my kit with by using a wrap and adhesive.

what is the purpose of the hi hat cymbal seat adjustment? I've been playing for 20 years and I've never really had it explained to me. What is the purpose of adjusting it to the all the way screwed...

What experience do you have making your own drum kits?

Have you ordered shells, wrap, hardware, etc. and made your "dream kit" and if so, how did it go? How difficult was it to do and which parts were harder than others? I'm really seriously thinking...

my question is what are your thoughts of the various tom suspension systems out there? Obviously when a tom is suspended by a tom arm that goes into both the bass drum and rack tom, it negatively...

When you tune a drum with a tuner at the tension rods, it's a different tune than when you hit the center of the drum. How do you find the note of that resonant head?
