I use the Protection Racket carpet, firstly for non slip, but secondly I mark out all the stand positions etc so the kit is much quicker to set up in the right positions everytime.

If possible always use credit cards, they have a legal responsibilty to refund money for faulty good or no show goods. You can 'charge back' via the credit card items over 100

In the UK we dont have GC or Musicians Friend the biggest stores are probably only at 4-5 locations in the country and they are still fairly small inside.

Sure they can order anything they like...

I have been playing for over 30 years in the time too many drum shops have come and gone, they seem to be dropping like flys at the moment.

I use a 26x16 I have an Aquarian super kick 2 on it, very few head manufacturers make a 26 head. I also use a DW pillow in there.
Batter head loose, resonant head v tight, I have a wonderful thump...

I agree about the 9 yrs old part, however I have drums going back to the 70's that are still perfect so somewhere down the line the quality has slipped. Also the drum store was talking about freshly...

I heard back from the MD of my local drum store and frankly I was amazed at the feedback.... seems that after looking into it and trying to work out how to help the MD...
