Re: Hitting the bell on the ride

I always hit the bell on its broadest (lowest) part with the shaft of the stick. That way it has the fullest sound. Some rides have low-profile bells that are harder to hit well (like many Istanbuls).

Re: rock snare

Try the Yamaha Musashi 13"x6.5" snare. It's made of oak, it can be very loud and is amazingly versatile, with a wide range of tunings. And it's quite affordable.

Re: Why Joey Jordison is one Dimensional

Does he have to be important or recognized in the industry to have the right for such comments? If it's the case, that would be an argument by authority, which is a logical fallacy.

Re: Drummer's career ended by someone's stupidity...

In any case the person must be held responsible. At least for owning and operating an illegal firework (especially in a public place).

I agree that there's probably no way of accidentially...

Re: Drummer's career ended by someone's stupidity...

I hate to say it, but I thought about this as well.

Anyway, you can't imagine how I feel sorry for that girl. But I don't think the "eye for an eye" principle is a solution. It won't heal her hand...

Re: The fastest singles in the world - best technique in the world?

I've seen the video where he played the fastest singles, and it's not at all what he does in the excerpt you show.

In that video his sticks weren't moving more than 1 cm away from the pad and,...

Re: Metal Drummers

Gene Hoglan (Strapping Young Lad, ex-Death)
Anders Jivarp (Dark Tranquillity)
Raymond Herrera (Fear Factory)

I love such threads. They allow to increase the post counter very quickly.

Re: Drummers that use 3 pieces or LESS?

No, I dont, since I don't have any recording hardware.

I have to admit that I often throw in a 14 inch tom. We're trying to create an unusual sound, so that's why I play with such a minimalistic...

Re: Drummers that use 3 pieces or LESS?

I usually play a 2-piece kit, with just a bass drum and a snare (and a bunch of cymbals).

Guess what kind of music I play.

Re: What annoys you on peoples drum sets?

No drum sounds good to me. At least those are cheap. Plus they look great with their prime color wrapping.

Re: What annoys you on peoples drum sets?

Most of the people here hate weird tom angles. It often happens that a newbie posts pics of his kit; every one shouts "Tom Angles!!!", and the newbie doesn't even know what's wrong with them.

I...

Re: Any Ideas For A Snare?!

Don't get Lars, it's much too loud.

Go for a Joey Jordison sig, or a Yamaha Musashi. You can get pretty much any sound out of the Musashi, and it's even cheaper than your price. A very good snare.

Re: heavier or lighter sticks for sore wrists?

Zildjian makes anti-vibe sticks that have a thing built inside that absorbs some vibrations. Those sticks are not durable (I have a pair), but they do the job.

PS: I don't really know if those...

Wow! Tim Waterson :)!

What I meant is that Joey Jordison, for example, is more known than Gene, whether it's within the drummers community or in general public. Travis Barker also. Although, so...

Re: is ebay reliable?

Yes, it's a good idea. I made some great deals on ebay.
I think that most of us here have bought or sold stuff at least once on ebay.
