Their laquers Meridian are even better. You might also want to consider their new Meridian Black RAVEN. Super fat and heavy bottom end on theses maple/birch kits -- and listing under a grand. ...

Go for the Mapex Meridian Maple, I have them and love them, pretty rich tone and great sound, especially for a low price. Or if you don't want a laquer finish, chack Mapex's Mydentity line of custom...
