Re: Is it still 4 way coordination if I....

I would say it technically still is. But at this point the question is almost an existential one... if someone plays a rest are they still playing? Anyway, I'm calling it 4 way coordination since...

Re: Is it still 4 way coordination if I....

It's still 4 way coordination. Things still have to coordinate with each other to hit at the same time.

Re: Ghost Drummer for Kiss, Jimi, Alice Cooper etc

I'm not surprised to hear about the Hendrix stuff. I was never into most of the posthumously released stuff. I thought most of it should have stayed unreleased. Hal spoke of everyone's sloppy playing...

Re: Better than the original??.....Noooooo!!!!!!

I Agree that most of the more recognized covers are generally better... But I have tried to decide which version of "a change is gonna come" is more amazing and it's a draw every time. Sam's is just...

Re: OH technique - front to back?

that is odd. you'll have to rely on the close mics to provide a sense of stereo image. and just roll with a mono OH. that sucks man. you should really ask what the engineer had in mind with that...

Re: Who Are The Most Melodic Drummers?

George Sluppick is so damn awesome. his stuff with Mofro and The City Champs rips. i end up listening to his demos for memphis drum. he's one of the few people that make solo drums sound like music...

Re: OH technique - front to back?

you should definitely just ask the engineer what's up. phrased politely of course. it's not out of the ordinary for a mix engineer to ask the recording engineer about tracking the session.

Re: Easiest Slayer Songs

Seasons in the Abyss is a good album to start with. Blood Red and Skeletons of Society (which were previously mentioned) are both on that album. Bloodline is a good song to get started with too. It's...

Re: Are studios necessary?

We're moving far from the original topic but oh well...

No. You have loops of Steve Gadd on your song. That is most certainly not the same thing. You bring in Steve Gadd because of the way he...

Re: Are studios necessary?

no to basically all of this. i dont have the time at the moment to formulate a full response but it's just very misinformed. basically to put out a "Product" those things are helpful but there are a...

Re: Are studios necessary?

great records can be made on any gear and in any location. the only thing necessary is a great engineer/the right engineer and a great mastering engineer. you can't make Zeppelin III in a tiny...

Re: Your favourite drum fills of all time, EVER!

there are so many good ones. but my all time favorite has to be Mitch Mitchell's fill into the solo of Hey Joe. It sets the solo up so well. It was just the most awesome thing at just the right time.

Re: Attitudes concerning teaching

since you don't have much (or any) experience teaching, i might try getting a beginner drumset book and taking him through that. obviously paying attention to the kid's attention span and what he...

Re: Green sparkle?

if i was gonna judge you as a JB fanboy based on the green sparkle, im sure i would say it just based on the sizes and configuration of that kit. who cares! green looks rad. not into the red so much....

Re: Funkiest Drummers Ever?

All the usual suspects for me. My favorite guy currently going right now is George Sluppick. his stuff with the City Champs is great as was all his work with Mofro (country ghetto and earlier)

Re: Song gets out of sync on my drum cover?

that was a funny post (#2). anyway...

its that simple. no need...

Re: Whisperroom

A kick may get to 100 db but i doubt that its 100 db at 60 hz. Maybe... I've never checked a kick out on an spl meter. Now I'm curious. The math was a little weird though. a 25 db reduction gets him...

Because it was an absolutely useless thread that has been discussed ad nauseum. There is nothing to learn from rehashing that subject. Do a quick search and you'll find plenty to read on that...

Re: "Awesome Video"

I'm with Nerflad and Gvdadrummasum. Ann was great but the rest of the song lacked any vibe. Jason totally bummed me out too. It was very forgettable for me.
