Re: My 1st post: Help with Ludwig Snare.

You sure about that Jules? That looks like a 5" deep shell to me.

Still a great deal either way though.

Re: My 1st post: Help with Ludwig Snare.

That doesn't look like a SS model. It would have extra, matching holes on both sides like it was drilled for 2 throwoffs.

I suspect somewhere along the line someone swapped out the stock hoop for...

Re: Gretsch orphans or new kit?

Thanks for the replies. I figure I'd like to keep the budget around 6 bills for the drums. The re-wrap, if I go that route, will run me about another 150-200 bills.

I am a little apprehensive of...

Re: Confusion on rolls - open or closed?

Can I ask for clarification on what a rudimental breakdown is John? Is that a long roll or can that apply to any rudiment?

Re: Possibly my first serious thread. Sexism.

Sounds like any prima donna singer. Although the term has gender connotations at its root it can certainly apply to either men or women. I know that I have worked with quite a few guys that meet that...

Re: Confusion on rolls - open or closed?

I am well aware of shorthand notation. I was inquiring about which is used to denote an open roll and which is used to denote a closed roll.

IRRC... 2 slashes=open roll and 3 slashes/Z=closed roll.

Gretsch orphans or new kit?

My old thread on my planning for my next kit got deleted because of the havoc that those damn hackers wrought on out beloved Drummerworld so I am starting this again as I still have a few questions....

Re: Confusion on rolls - open or closed?

Thanks Todd, I typed up a wordy response then deleted after I realized I wasn't quite sure. Figured someone who knew better than I would be along shortly.

Follow up question: A double stroke can...

Re: Doug Clifford’s 1969 CCR Drum Kit on Museum Display

Awww Yea, looks like there is presentation this Sat as well. I'm going this weekend if I can get the wife to go.

Thanks for sharing this Scott. I want to see that old trap kit too.

Re: Shoes and Gloves

Bone, If you need I can refer you to a good teacher in our area. He is very affordable and a great guy. Gave me a strong foundation to build upon and taught me to read drum charts.

PM me if you'd...

Re: Forum shenanigans - LDS 2014 - Photo's & video

Is Henry English? I thought he was Swiss and I have always read his posts in a French accent.

Also that David Floegel, (is that David? The one with black hair and the superb beard?) is a helluva...

Re: THE CLASSIFIEDS - For Sale / Wanted

Just throwing this on her for feelers. Looking to sell my Drumcraft kit. I could work a deal to a Drummerworld member. I have never shipped a kit before so I would have to figure out shipping and...

Re: Judge Says Teen Drummer's Playing Isn't a Nuisance

Haah!! That reminds me of a story. I lived on the 3rd floor of an apartment in Glendale, the guy on the floor below me liked to play his bass heavy music LOUD later at night. It didn't bother me much...

Re: Judge Says Teen Drummer's Playing Isn't a Nuisance

I think anyone who works around the elderly can confirm that it not the case for everyone. Some folks are nice people and some aren't. 60+ years of being around isn't going to mellow everyone out....

Re: How to hang a cymbal for display?

That is a clever idea there Foot. If you were worried about it key-holing you could always use a cymbal sleeve.

My unused cymbals sit in a bag on a shelf, if they had feelings they would feel...

Re: Vintage Snare Drum Collectors?

I love vintage drums, I am drawn toward drums that have been modified in such a way that has decreased their value to a collector. The popular term is "player's drum". I have a 30's Leedy COB snare...

Re: My New Studio Setup Look at the floor space

Great looking setup. I have always like the Stealth setup, much smaller than a rack and it has that great clean look of a rack.

I recently ditched a boom stand with a heavy attachment arm for a...

Re: Yikes! A Craigslist Advertisment

Yea, that looks like a pile of scrap metal.

I did score a great deal on a snare once because of rather lazy seller pictures. I was going to be taking a weekend trip up North with my then...

I like to go for the higher jazz tunings, really makes my toms stand out especially for louder music.

Tony, I'm going to give the non-cranked reso again. I normally go for a higher tensioned reso...

Re: Joe Morello: I Couldn't Play Jo Jone's Bass Drum

My father in-law and I shared my kit on a gig once. The bass drum is a 24x14 tuned high and wide open, PS3 batter and a coated single ply reso with a felt strip.

He had a bit of trouble with the...

Re: PSA - Lubricate your P85.

Thanks Kama!

I'll pick up a bottle this weekend.

I can't remember exactly who said it but someone dropped this gem the other day "lubrication is the respect that we show machines."

I think I...

Guys, this thread has Saturn'd into a silly argument over WD40. Everyone knows that you use it to add lift to your hair and clean bike chains.

Anyway, back on topic here...

I have noticed my...

This makes me feel better. People like to accuse Americans of being petty and litigious but it seems the Scots are no better.
