Re: Non flat Supraphonic

I've just tuned up the drum with just the batter head on and its made no difference, at each lug it sounds great, very open with lots of ring, but when i hit the middle it is completely flat. Does...

Re: Non flat Supraphonic

I've taken both heads off and it does seem slightly better. I'll try tuning up the batter head without the reso on and see how it sounds.

Re: Non flat Supraphonic

Update, I've checked it on a surface that i'm fairly sure is flat and there is a definate dip of about 2mm over a length of about 150mm, it really looks like a snare bed on the batter side. I've...

Re: Non flat Supraphonic

It's definitely not the snare bed. I've had the reso head off before, and the snare bed is clearly defined, whereas this is a much more subtle dip and only on one side.

Re: Non flat Supraphonic

It's never bothered me as i've never noticed it until now.
It does rock a little when on a flat surface and it's on the batter side, no not the snare bed. I'll tune it up and have a good listen, and...

Non flat Supraphonic

I was changing the head on my 402 earlier and notice that it looked as though there was a slight dip in the rim. The dip is at the nearest point to the camera in the first pic, and the second shows a...

Re: What's Your Favorite Song?

John Martyn- Small Hours especially after being told by the recording engineer how they recorded it at 4 am in a quarry. I love the geese in the background.

Re: How to get over a creative rut?

I find if you feed your hi hats a little whiskey it always does the trick.

Seriously though a break of maybe even a week has always worked for me.

Re: The greatest thing I have ever seen.

It's like watching a really awful child at a school talent show, you feel sorry for them but also think it's hilarious it because they think they're great (at least my evil side does)

Re: Falam Slam Bass Drum Pad

Regarding the bass pedal on the hoop conundrum, I use train tickets or a carefully ripped beer mat. They work like a charm and you'll never run out of either.

Re: Looking for input on a kit

Have you looked at Ludwig centennials- Great drums for the price, 20x20 bass, within your price range and perfect if you gig a lot.
good luck

Re: Ludwig Centennial Drumkits

I love mine and would definitely recommend them if you can live with the deep bass, which I find is very hard to play in a quiet setting (saying that it is much better when you change the bass batter...

Re: Prodigy or Hard Working?

Must be a prodigy, no 5 year old would be having that much fun if he was being forced to do it by his parents.

I'm loving the cheese kit! Although it could possibly do with some crackers to use as cymbals?

Re: Kick drum angle...

Great idea drumteckdad
similarly if the bass is sitting on the floor it will distort the batter head hoop the opposite way.
Taking a close look at my pedal i fund that there is a slight angle on...
