Re: dw drums
rmandelbaum is right, most dealers go up to 40% off list. A local drum shop around me gives 40% off oil and lacquer, 45% off FinishPly. However, GC countered with 50% off list for FinishPly to get my...

From looking at pics of Roy's kit prior to endorsing dw he was using Tama/ octabans. So to keep the same set up he(or dw) designed the Rata toms.

Re: DW Rata Drums?
I believe I read where Roy Mayorga was the first to have the Rata toms. Dw made his 11x6, 18x6 and 24x6 toms for him and he is credited with naming them Rata's. I'm sure they'll make them for anyone...

Re: new set time (2)
You don't have to go "all out" or anything on just the shells or a kit. Your idea for a new set of new cymbals is a good one. I just believe you can update your cymbals and move into a new kit with...

So, he's got 4k at his disposal and thinking about spending it on an intermediate kit and cymbals...............how long before he would regret that financial move you'll think?

Overrated? I've never been a big fan of Bozzio, but decided to go see him when he came to Richmond for a clinic. I sat just a few feet away from his kit and now I understand all the hype, ......he's...

Re: Drum Lesson Cancellations
If some parents can't obligate themselves to get their kids to class one hour per week, maybe these are the students/ parents you should no longer deal with.

Re: New DW Collector's Custom Lacquer
It's my understanding that the reinforcement hoops raise, not lower the tone of the shell. They are standard on maple shells, birch shells are standard without. Yes, you got a good deal. Enjoy.

Re: PDP FXR Drums - Good?
I chose the FXR to go into my uncle's home studio. Very loud, clean sound. They were on clearance at GC for 400.00. He said they sounded better than any set that had been brought over by drummers for...
