Re: Pro Drummer Neighbor

Re: What makes a pro kit?

My Gretsch Catalinas have only 5 lugs per side - just like the USA Customs do. And the Gretsch USA Customs are definitely "Pro" level drums!

Re: I love this blue and black drum set...

I agree. What shade of blue would you call that? To me it's kind of a deep royal blue.

Re: Lady Gaga on the Oscars.

The whole "meat" dress a few years ago didn't help her cause when it came to taking her seriously.

Re: Guy downstairs goes mental when practicing e-drums

Exactly what does this mean?

I feel as if you're trying to insult me.

Re: Guy downstairs goes mental when practicing e-drums

So, if I am doing my part to stay quiet, i.e. the e-kit, and you still think I'm being too loud (which is subjective, by the way), it is my responsibility to get even quieter??

You're nuts!

Re: Guy downstairs goes mental when practicing e-drums

You made an informed choice to use the e-kit so you wouldn't disturb the neighbors, right? As far as I can tell, you're living up to your decision and nobody has the right to ask/demand more of you....

Re: Good snare drums after the packaged kit one

A metal snare drum (Aluminum, if possible) will probably suit your needs very well - as well as your budget.

But, before you go that route, spend a little time (and money) and try some different...

Re: Pearl drum set in Blues Brothers movie

Berst movie cop car chase EVER!!

I always wondered about that mall. I must have been slated for demolition or super-duty renovation when you see all the destruction caused during that scene.

Re: What's your story about how you started drumming?

My brain and body have always been rhythmically based. When I was about 2 years old (according to my mother), I would pound on anything I could find to hit with spoons, sticks from trees, Lincoln...

That makes sense.... good to know. I'm glad you weren't trying to be some sort of superman... Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Re: Warm up routines

Agreed!

I pretty much just dive in head first and let the musical currents be my guide.

During the cold winter months though, I will wash my hands in warm water so they're nice and toasty. ...

Re: Catalina vs Concept vs Mydentity vs ???

If you really have to have "new," then the Renowns will be out of reach. I have a Gretsch Catalina Maple and I love it. I think they sound fantastic and right now I don't think I would consider...

Re: Chris Slade drumming for AC/DC again?

That was my statement in the other Grammy thread.

AC/DC played Highway to Hell like the Energizer Bunny was running out of juice in his power pack. It DRAGGED!

Re: Do you own (or want to own) both acoustic and electric kits?

I also play the guitar and sometimes when I play my Strat, I plug my headphones into the amp so only I hear my playing - which outstanding, BTW - look out Clapton! No headphones for my acoustic...

Re: Do you own (or want to own) both acoustic and electric kits?

I began my drumming journey on a Yamaha DTXpress III because I had younger kids and didn't want to irritate the neighbors. The kit served me well for several years. Unfortunately, I couldn't get...

Re: Chris Slade drumming for AC/DC again?

Using Slade in place of Phil Rudd makes since. He knows how to play with the boys. Nobody else, however, has the feel and groove that Rudd possesses.

Besides the obvious sound of the guitars...

That's a pretty ambitious project Larry - I hope you succeed!!
