you could also use a boom stand and clamp it off of that, or you can get the arm seperate from the clamps. which gives you more reach. but most people are giving you the same advice now.

sorry. for type of metal i'm not really sure, I don't have much experience with metal snare drums. budget wise id say lower budget. 2-3 hundred bucks or so. if that helps..
