Re: SJC, yay or nay....

I agree. We have to assume Keller is expert at what they are doing. Most likely they can also to some extent accomodate a drum manufacturers custom spec and not everyone gets the same.
Not wanting a...

Re: Does anyone actually like big finales?

I general no. People should listen to Toto - they know how to end a song.

I have a Pearl 7 piece GLX in flight cases back in Denmark.
In Malaysia I have 3 Gretsch kits. A 6 piece Purewood Oak, a 6 piece Purewood Hickory and a 4 piece Catalina Jazz.

I could picture...

Re: Pearl Free Floater (advice)

Some board members believes that the large mass of the Pearl bottom hoop deadens the drum. I.e. reduces the shells ability to resonate. This is no doubt true if the drum resonates as one solid unit....

Re: How do you save up for gear purchases?

Yeah its a lot. I have a nice job, so does the wife and no kids. Company pays most of my expenses as I am expatriated.
Anyway I have sort of gotten what I need, so I should be scaling down.

Re: How do you save up for gear purchases?

I probably spend USD3k on gear per month. Never sell anything.
Not only on drums, but also on studio and PA equipment as well as keys and guitars.
I sort of have what I need now and hope to scale...

Re: Is Dennis Chambers ill?

We are not prying like calling up his family or going to the hospital where he is at. Just sharing information that is already available.
We are fans and we care about him.

Re: RANT: Dissapointed in Sonor

I think you have to accept that your kit is 10 years old and get the parts ordered while they are still available.

Re: Removing the wrap from old Ludwigs?

II have done it on a Tama Swingstar from the 70's.
Some of the 1st ply of wood preferred to stick to the wrap and it did not turn out pretty.
I do however not know if Ludwig is gluing their wrap...

Re: Do we really need expensive drums?

Its not just the sound we pay for:

More expensive drums usually have better hardware
Might come with better heads
Might be made in a high labour cost country
Might be made from exotic woods...

Re: Al Jackson jr break in Turn You Loose. . . sounds simple . . .

Re: Endorsements... A two way street?

Lets say an endorsed drummer needs 20 cymbals to be 'fully equipped', USD300 each.
This obviously depends on if you are Mike Portnoy or Brian Blade. But 20 could be a good average number.

Re: manufacturing process for triple flanged hoops?

I have never noticed a joint on a triple flange hoop and don't think its roll forming.
More likely its stamped out of a sheet of metal.

Re: I've played only TAMA for years, looking to switch up

Tama makes great products. A switch to another big brand would be a sideways move unless you are going from a low end model to a high end model.
