abapicaltaenia, your correct; it is very thin and is not related to the z lines. I have tried quite a few different applications of tape and moon gel. As i said, i have no intention of hammering...

I'll get straight to it; I own a Zildjian 20" Crash of Doom. I bought it thinking that it would resemble a bosphorus trash crash, which are a bit pricey and this crash of doom...

I would just buy the kick, if your happy with the toms and snare of the tama, that is. No reason replacing an entire kit for such a hefty amount if your only really doing it for one drum. Perhaps...

Rudiments are a must; Gadd is a great example of how they can be applied to the kit. Wrap your head around some stuff that youve never heard of; just start lookin up the Drummers on the Drummerworld...
