Re: Closest wood to beech?

Sure, if I were going for a smaller kit ( to me 18, 10, 14 or 18, 12, 14) I'd go for the birch, more cut, more low end. Larger drums ( 20 kick on up, 12, 14, 16 maybe) I'd go for thebeech, warmer...

Re: Closest wood to beech?

I would go for the medium shell if it's beech. I've had sigs, phonics and teardrops, basically three different beech thicknesses, I also have a beech infinite snare which is the same thickness as a...

Re: Gretsch Stave Snare WOW

Nice, I'll bet those are made in the same Thailand plant where they make all the LP, Toca Meinl congas etc. Looks to me to be the siam oak variety, basically rubberwood, same stuff used on all the...

Re: How does Ludwig Keep Prices down?

Well, I just got my set of classic maple exotics, 8x12, 14x14 and 14x20, my favorite sizes. I don't like them as much as my old sonor kits, but they were much less expensive ( 1100 to the door used)...
