I've lost that feeling?

I've got something that's been bugging me for a bit now. I left my last band recently (amicably), as they wanted to head towards a music style that just wasn't in my interest, but since...

Re: Drumshell aging

Of course it may take a month at 200 degrees

So just leaving my drums in the garage over summer will age them and make them sound better? I KNEW there was a good reason for moving to...

Re: Resale Suggestions?

I can't speak for the price suggestions, but I definitely would recommend NOT to clean them any more than a gentle wipe with a clean, soft cloth! Many drummers like the sound of a used "dirty" cymbal.

Re: hiya

Hi Disraeli!
$400 isn't bad for that, for a 1970 model, you're looking at more of a antique than a gigging set. Pay close detail to everything, make sure your getting your money's worth, or...

Re: why shouldnt you keep drums in a garage

Okay, let's go in the opposite direction for this conversation a moment, can we? I just moved here to Phoenix AZ from a lesser extreme climate. I've currently got my drums in the garage and am not...

Re: New drum set suggestions

If you're just getting back into drumming, I'd recommend perusing Craigslist in your area. You can often times find a decent kit at a really good price. Then, once you've brought yourself back up to...

Re: Piccolo snares--who uses one, and why?

I've got a Pearl Piccolo on the left side of my kit, but only use it for accents and special applications. I've heard that since it has such a distinctive voice, it's generally not used as a main...

Re: My hands and forearms hurt.

I would say you're most likely not warming up enough. Even if you hold the sticks fairly loose, drumming requires a lot of individual muscle use. Also, you need to tone up those muscles and tendons,...

Re: Improvement

Hi Nehalem and welcome!
You may have found yourself in a bit of a rut because you might have become so focused on all the rudiments, proper drum methods and all that rut, the whole thing's...

Okay, firstly, Dude (Inflames), I love your avatar! Nicely done I actually thought there was a bug on my screen at first! :-)
Secondly, I agree with the tempo threshold. I've been trying to get...

Re: creating drum parts for songs

Hi Handito!
For me, I usually listen to the song, and unless it's a really odd time jazz piece, I can "feel" the time and structure for the song. From there, I can put in the basic beat to...

Re: How to understand jazz

That's too funny! I hadn't seen that before! Thanks for posting that, and yes, I agree it should be a poster! I'd buy and keep it on my studio wall!

Re: Les Binks

I saw your subject line and thought to myself: "Self, now WHERE have I heard that name before....' Couldn't quite place it but it sure sounded very familiar! Then I read your post and felt I needed...

Re: Scott Rockenfield

I'd definitely have to agree with you! He doesn't get nearly as much accolades as he deserves! I've seen Queensryche about 3 times and every time he just amazes me with his skill and technique!

Re: New pics of my Sonor 3007.

OMG! Please excuse my drool! What a beautiful kit! Looks like a blast to sit down behind that beauty and fire it up!! I would imagine it would be the same feeling as buckling up in a Ferrari and...

Re: Gospel music Recommendations

Sorry, I know it's not really Gospel, but I've always loved the song "End of my Journey" from the movie "Cadence". His voice is just flowing with emotion and passion, gives me goosebumps every time I...

Re: Hearing Problems

Yes, I am one of the ignorant ones.... Been playing for over 25 years and always thought I was "too cool" for earplugs or hearing protection of any kind. Now I guess I'm too cool to hear anything but...

Re: Two unsung drummers

I completely agree with you about Burleigh! I've been a big fan of Ambrosia for a long time and have always enjoyed his style, especially when I get to see the videos of him playing! Truly a...
