Re: You won't believe what Andy did

I'm confused. I thought Andy's seatmate from the plane was working on Andy's shrinkage problem in NYC. I just can't keep up with all these developments. Does everyone have shrinkage issues around...

Re: You won't believe what Andy did

There is this old saying: what goes on in NYC with a smoking hot woman you met on an airplane stays in NYC. :)

Re: Went to Memphis Drum Shop (again)...

Great story about Vinnie seeking out Ben. As much as I like Ben, George Slupick was the man. What groove! Bought my last Brady from MDS and they treated me right.

Re: Drum mic recommendations

The i5 adds even more mass if you clip it, adversely affecting tone. Its bulk also gets in the way when clipped. Tried clipping mine onto my snare the other night and I just couldn't position it in a...

Re: The 2015 funky Guru snare competition starts now! Entry details :)

Billy Ray just ripping it. Extraordinarily playing but more important to me was how his playing supported the song, never throwing in chops just to throw them in because he can. Brilliant and I liked...

Re: Brady drum kits - experience?

That's odd. Brady's Facebook page remains fairly active. I've heard nothing until the above post that has suggested that they're no longer building drums.

Re: Visit to Wac'd Drums

What an awesome facility he's designed. Very talented and gifted man. Would love to keep apprised of developments.

Re: Ever forgotten your hihat clutch?

I'd almost relish the challenge...almost. Always keep a spare in the stick bag.

Please never put three Mongels on that amazing instrument. What a great drum.

Re: Simple 3 mic recording - opinions please

snare and floor tom were the standouts for me; I will echo what others have said about a little more attack on the kick. All in all though this relatively simple recording process should allow you to...

Re: Have You Heard of Brady Drums?

I did swap out the heads to a coated Evans G1 and Hazy 300. In theory they're the Evans equivalent of the stock heads (Remo I believe). I'm of the firm belief that stock heads are of lower quality...

Re: Low Serial # Vintage DW Kit - Pic's Inside

Really makes you reflect on what the craftsmen who built those drums were thinking as they made them, considering the magnitude of what had transpired that day. When I learned of the events in real...

Re: Last piece of gear you forgot?

Bottom, tripod part of the throne. It was an out of state gig so I found a Guitar Center nearby and picked up the only decent throne they had, a Pork Pie for almost $200. Figured a good one can be...

Re: Bassist Mike Porcaro Dies

Another great talent left us way too soon. A local bass player I used to play with has this dreadful disease. Let's hope a cure is found soon. Rest in peace Mike Porcaro.

Congrats on that new snare Eric. As well-crafted an instrument as you'll ever run across. Enjoy many years with that one.

Re: Basement temp and humidity

With a humidifier set between 50-60% humidity your drums should be just fine. All of mine are kept in my unfinished basement here in the northeast. Have been for years. No issues whatsoever. I do...

As one of two current owners of one of these very special instruments, well three now that Andy is wisely keeping one or two, I can tell you that these drums even sound better than they look....

Re: Tama Starclassic B/B pros - Need your help

Didn't experience that with the kit I just parted with and mine endured 18 months of steady gigging, 4 times per month. No idea what it could be.

Re: Drums and beer at my first ever band tryout!

Wow, this gang of tea-totalers on DW is definitely not like most musicians I've been around. My last gigging band was an Irish band. Enough said. Before that I played in a variety/party band. Crowds...
