Re: Pearl Reference vs Yamaha MCAN

Well, I guess I better chime in here since I play MCA's and my finish is in Brown Fade!! What you are hearing is true about the MCA's: incredible craftmanship, punchy kick, and versatile/warm toms. ...

Re: Yamaha tom with YESS mount - will it fit into a standard bag?

Yep. Mike's right. I have standard protection racket bags for all my MCA toms with YESS mounts. They fit true to tom size with plenty of room for the YESS mount.

Re: Yamaha Drums

I received my bass drum plate from Mike ...... Very nice. If you removed your kick mount and want a 'clean-looking' bass drum this is the way to go. Thanks, Mike!

Re: Yamaha Rack Tom Problem

You can try adjusting the reso up or down on each tom to differentiate the note. I have both the MCA 12 and 13; that's what I do with a coated G2 as batter and G1 as reso.

Re: Advice after first public performance

Great post, Ab .... You received some good advice from our Forum. I'll add one more thing: playing live requires some sort of monitor system for the drummer. Either a floor wedge or in-ear monitor...

Re: Yamaha Drums

Wow, Aydee! Yes, that's your finish and it looks awesome .... What a kit. I give credit to Yamaha for offering your finish in the oak custom line. Man, that's stunning.

Re: Price check on Yamaha MCAN?

Hey, Freddy. I bought my MCA's (new w/ absolute lugs) with 12, 14, and 16" toms and a 22" bass for $2,400. The two additional toms will cost another $800+-. So, you are over 3K. I'm betting you...

Re: THE YAMAHA DRUMS THREAD

I played (my MCA's) at a youth group event last Saturday. My kick and toms sounded great from the floor. One of the guitar players (I just met him that night) was really impressed with the Yamaha...

Re: maple custom absolutes are no fun to tune

My MCA's tune easily using G2 coated over G1 clear. My ear is different than yours, but I tune my reso firm, and higher than the batter. The batter is 1/4 to 1/2 turn lower than the reso. Do not...

Ludwig Exotic Maple Snare

Anyone played Ludwig's Exotic Maple 6.5x14 snare? Impressions? I played one the other day and liked the warm, fat sound.

Re: Do you like the sound of your 16" floor tom? How do you tune it?

Hey, cdrums. I also play MCA's and tune my 16" floor close to what you do. Nice warm and round tone. G2 coated over G1clear. Reso higher than batter. It's possible that my reso is higher than...

Re: Who tunes higher on reso?

I'm higher on reso, as well; less resonance and a pretty pure note.

Re: Another Deal -- what do you think???

You get my vote to buy the Ludwig's. That Ludwig Classic is beautiful. I like the 13" rack tom, also. Go for it ......
