Re: Drum Kit Suggestion

I agree with blood on this. For a jazz setup, I just take the second rack tom off and put my ride in it's place. It makes a world of difference.

Re: My First Ludwig Acrolite

Congratulations! $100 was a very good price. Could you possibly put a picture on showing the Ludwig badge on the snare?

Re: Best drum teacher in youtube

Stephen Taylor is a great youtube teacher. I've learned a ton from watching his videos. Alex Ribchester is pretty good too, though he's not as experienced.

Re: Buying and Selling - Used drums/cymbals?

So far I've done most of my purchases on ebay and a couple at sweetwater. Ebay is a great place to get cymbals. It's kind of a hit-and-miss thing though. I've seen some amazing deals on cymbals if I...

Especially a snare like an Acrolite or Supraphonic, both 5 x 14.

Drums vs. cymbals

Would you rather have a cheap drumset with nice cymbals or a nice drumset with crappy cymbals?

I just recently got a new PDP 700 boom stand and a Zildjian A 20" medium ride.

Re: Buying First Drum Kit

Ebay would be a good place to buy it. I just went on there and saw many different brand new Mapex Meridians (not Smashers) that even had free shipping. I even found one with a six piece shell pack....

Re: Buying First Drum Kit

As far as I know, "The Smasher" just has different drum sizes. And it's more expensive...
The soundcaster cymbals are great cymbals as I've heard from other people. If they sound good to your ears,...

Re: Versatile DW Snare

You can never go wrong with a Ludwig Acrolite. Best all-around snare drum there is.

Re: Buying First Drum Kit

If you see those sizes, you're looking at the Pearl Export Fusion drum set. Search for Pearl Export standard drum set. Type in Pearl Export on guitarcenter.com and you'll be able to see the two...

Re: Buying First Drum Kit

Well, that would be all the more money to buy good cymbals. Suggestions: Zildjian A 390 or 391 Box Set. Sabian XS20 Promo cymbal pack.

Oh, and with the higher budget, I would suggest the Pearl...

Re: Buying First Drum Kit

A good choice would be the PDP Centerstage kit. You can get it on guitarcenter.com for about $400 brand new. It comes with the drums, hardware, and cymbals. I would spend the rest of your budget on...

Re: Most versatile kit?

Maple is used the most by drummers for drumsets, but it mostly depends on the drummer.

Re: Most versatile kit?

I would get a Pearl Export or Tama Imperialstar and then use the rest on cymbals. You can always make the drums sound better, but the cymbals mostly stay the same. So make sure you buy the right...

Drum gigs?

Ok, I may sound like one of the stupidest people on earth, but what exactly is a drum gig? I'm a beginner as some of you know, so I'm kind of new to this stuff.
