Thanks for answering about the metal/acrylic shells. Overkill is normal for me pretty much. I'm probably just going to settle on a 7x14 brass snare.

Sorry, I don't really have a budget right now. Only I don't feel like getting a custom snare right now, so I guess my budget is anything under a grand lol. But I'm not switching snare heads at all....

Well they work great in my iPod, and plugged into the Aviom A-16. The only thing I notice is sometimes the sound will go in and out for split seconds, but I assumed this was due to the foam tips....
