I agree about the poo Ludwig head on most snare drums but on a brass shell leave on the poo and put some 12 strand wires on it.

One of the things that I have learnt while drumming is to trust my instinct as far as drums go, so scientific jargon is just spin. Let us be the judge of which drums give us the ability to play to...

The Funk Bros are a great example of Jazz players utilizing Rock. Some of Motowns best grooves came from late night Jazz Jams.

The pre serial COB snare drums are called Super 400 . They are one of the best snare drums ever made IMHO ...Get one ..

Dre, the bass mount is easy for set up but it does make the bass drum heavy, I 'd leave it like you have it.

Thanks Bermuda, I am well aware of vintage issues as I have a nice old Cloud Badge kit. There is nothing like aged mahogany hence the question new versus vintage.

It seems that while there are WFL pre serial and Transition kits still around in good shape that they will be priced better than the newer version. Food for thought. Thanks.

Not much info here on these kits, if anyone has anything to say about them I'd be keen to listen.. I have an anniversary Liverpool kit which now I've reskinned am really enjoying..
