With every drum I make, I fine tune the edges by sanding them with fine sandpaper, working in a Maloof oil mixture with a piece of scotchbrite to seal the edge,and then applying paste wax and working...

I would also throw black walnut in there, too, for the focus that it provides. An excellent wood for a studio drum. Big, fat, clean, and focused.

Thanks, KIS. You are correct. While my drums and many other custom/boutique builders' drums are quite pricy, they are generally less expensive than a lot of Bradys,, Craviottios and the high end...

Look for something made of mahogany or walnut. I'm going to have do disagree with the 30 degree inside cut, not that they are bad or don't work, but 45 degree inside cuts work just as well. ...
