Fantastic technique, it seems to be the secret for playing double bass single strokes fast ?

I've just realized that Billy Cobham plays behind the beat (not "in the pocket") on Stratus and on most of the tunes of the Spectrum album !...

No, in my opinion it is possible to gain some speed with it (with or without the extra use of fingers) although the roll won't be even.

Never play bare feet: I had 2 surgeries because of that (a remainder of a stick on the floor got into my left foot...)

For me constant release is toe-heel and heel-toe the opposite of course. So same motion except that you begin either by a toe or a heel.

what do you mean ? At slow or moderate speed, the stroke is essentially generated by the wrist not the fulcrum (I agree for control as fulcrum has an impact on the rebound quality)
