Re: How do you pack and ship cymbals?

Here is how I do it....

I wrap them the way I would like to recieve them if I puchased them. I believe as drummers we all intrinsically KNOW what that means.

I can honestly say....that I truly hat.....'dislike'....EVERY song sampled in that commerical AND the band they rode in on!

Those are not ballads (power or otherwise). They are pieces of peroxide...

Re: Interesting Insights By Cathy Rich On Her Dad

So does it make a difference that a superstar of Buddy's stature believed vs. the little old lady "down the street"?

Re: Hey Joe: Great drumming or overplaying?

I don't think Miles is "forgotten" as much as he was never known.

What I mean is that Jimi's work with "The Experience" was what propelled him into the spotlight and put him on the map. All those...

Re: Hey Joe: Great drumming or overplaying?

Why should the OP asking the question validate his view over ours?

Or put another way....

Should the fact that the OP created the post...automatically disqualify the drum part?

I, for one...

Re: Hey Joe: Great drumming or overplaying?

Simply put...

Mitch Mitchell's drumming makes that tune the emotional powerhouse it is....

In my opinion of course....lol.

Re: Arthritis in Foot - Looking for Kick Drum Alternatives

I don't have a lot of experience with these, but it would certanly work with just your heel.... It is called a "stomper". Typically a folk type guitarist will use one to add some bass drum effects to...

Re: Who has inspired the most to make people play drums?

I would think that-

A look at the number of people alive in the UK and the US (primarily) would give good insight into the question.

As the OP did not ask "who inspired in each generation", but...

Re: The Choice to Play the Drumset

When answering, if you could please also share whether drums are fully integrated into your personal and professional life; or your relationship with the instrument is a more casual relationship...

Re: Rules in Music

Go listen to Handel's Messiah and then come back and apologize for insinuating that church music doesn't "rock" out or have "heart".

Re: Rules in Music

You could say there are "no rules" about a lot of things.

But eventually you have to eat or you will die.

Re: The right tools for the job.

No problem with the idea of using a 4-piece (I use one my self most of the time).

What bothers me is when using a 4-piece becomes an issue of pride or some kind of badge of honor. Like if you...

Re: Deep bass drums

All I can say is....

If I hadn't read on drum forums that 18" depth bass drums were "sluggish" I never would have came up with it on my own.

That is why I asked about genre-maybe I just don't...

Or just buy $100 dollars in nice and cool Amazon LEDs and you'll be producing cutting edge video in no time!

Wonder why no one...

Re: Camera to Record Some Drumming Things for Youtube

Respectfully...beg to differ. Larger sensor-better light gathering ability.

While an iPhone is an amazing piece of technology, physics is physics and a larger sensor will produce a cleaner image...

Re: Deep bass drums

Ok, that helps. I was thinking more towards the beater feeling sluggish not necessarily the sound...

But don't you find that the 14" depth sounds "thin"? Not as much presence?
Especially at...

Re: Deep bass drums

Curious....

For those who say that an 18" depth bd repsonse is "sluggish" or feels "slower".

Could you give more detail, or maybe describe what musical genre or context you are coming from?

Re: Busted snare side head at gig...spare heads/parts

I have tossed a backup snare in the truck....but I haven't been playing "hard music" for years so it is less of an issue today than years ago-at least for batters. Snare side though? Hmmm...that...
