Re: A re-statement of the obvious

Re: quality of drum sounds to the rest of the band is not important

Yeah, by "gear" I meant light sticks, dampening rings and thin cymbals.

Re: quality of drum sounds to the rest of the band is not important

In my experience, they don't even care if we play correctly :). As long as we keep decent tempo and don't play too loud, everyone I've played with has always been happy .....or oblivious :)

Re: What's your latest purchase?

I feel it really needs the 6" casters

If the cart itself didn't hit at the door opening, I'd consider loading/unloading the top shelf on site. :)

Re: What's your latest purchase?

Trying to simplify our gig set up. I have the rehearsal space, PA and a trailer so I handle all the gear except the guitarists stuff.

I managed to get my drums, keyboard, lights, computer,...

Re: Zoom Q2N (Camera) questions.

I picked up a Zoom Q4 which seems to be a step up from the Q2n and. it's not great.

I got it because it has an audio input and I wanted to record straight from the board or from a decent mic.

Re: How to start?

I have a simple two step system.

Step 1. Get drums
Step 2. Hit drums

I'd recommend an E kit+headphones+mp3s and drumless tracks for starters. It's more enjoyable that working on rudiments,...

Re: Arthritis in Foot - Looking for Kick Drum Alternatives

If you can't or don't want to train your left foot to handle kick duties, I know you could build a trigger apparatus that requires less force. If you can tap your foot even slightly, I'm certain it...

Re: Do you have a piece of equipment that you've used since day 1 and still use it regularly?

Please tell me that someone other than me wanted to mention their genitals.

Re: struggling to get through a song

It would probably be easier for him to come in on the "go" which is the start of the measure, but I'm pretty sure the snare comes in on the "I" ( the 4and)

And, CRIKEY, a guitar or two are WAY...

Re: "too Busy"

I figured it out by myself. The more I listened to the role that drums play in different styles of music, the more I tried to emulate them.

Re: Stage Fees?

It makes perfect sense when you think about it differently.

A 30 second Super Bowl commercial is pushing the 5 million dollar mark. An artist will get maybe 10 minutes of exposure. Entertainers...

Re: Stage Fees?

The first time I heard that was in the early 80's when I read that ( I think) George Thorogood paid to open for the stones. At the time I was like, WTF, but it seems really obvious now.

Re: Not sure how to do this

Several years ago I cleaned out my truck to trade it in for a new one and there were probably 100 demo CDs in the console :)

Re: Not sure how to do this

Ive been recording for a few years and have done a LOT by trial and error. I was mixing the band, not just drums. I got one sound from my headphones, one from my studio monitors and one from the PA. ...

Re: Fixing Tempo Problems

Horse puckey. All you need to do is turn off the click. It's as simple as that. If you can play with a click, you sure as hell can play without one.

Actually, I'm just speaking from my...

Re: Fixing Tempo Problems

This comes up all the time. No one has ever said that they NEED a click, except for tracks/lights etc.

The click is just a tool and it is simple to use, so why not use it? I can be manly and use...

Re: Who has inspired the most to make people play drums?
