Yeah i was talking about the "skip" notes like you were saying... 1,2,3,4 should all be on the beat but the "skip" is what really messes with people... its all about feel though... don't overthink...

DYNAMICS:
Try taking a snare drum and playing it as quietly as you can... You should be able to play at all dynamic levels... one of the things I used to work a lot was dynamic ranges by playing...

I agree and disagree with this statement... You can keep "rockin the f out." I do.. and i think that its the main reason i like playing drums... you get to hit things fast...

I've always considered the rockstars lower-end sets. You should totally look into something higher quality. And definately make sure that if you are looking to expand you know you'll be able to get...

Yeah... rim shots sound much bigger then they need to be usually... you can get the same volume and sound out of a shot if you hit it at the same velocity you usually hit the drum... the rim shot...

New Breed will do that for you... if practiced properly. The concept is that they give you a set of "systems" that use 3 limbs for the pattern.... then they give you pages of "melodies" which should...

That is AWESOME! i bet it was terrible fast... and prob very dangerous to anyone standing in your way... Maybe not as dangerous as the colonel's cymbal frisbee but still... that would hurt.

OMG!!!! NOOOOOOO!!!! that just SOUNDS like a bad idea... and in my experience, if it SOUNDS bad it usually IS bad... I would suggest getting some chop-builder sticks (the big metal ones) and playing...

Okay... i looked into it and actually this guy Trivett Wingo plays a 14x10 (http://www.tamadrum.co.jp/artist/tama_artist.php?artist_id=517&area=3) up then a 16x16 and 18x18 down. his kit looks like...

I would think you'd want a lot of room there... you're just doing it to keep the muffling pillow in the right place so just put it wherever you place the pillow. I wouldn't necessarily try to put it...

Probably not :) I wish i could find a way to see them though... I was a little worried about about 18 and 16 on a stand too... if it isn't stable i might get 2 stands... one for each.

I remember learning this with a clap slide kind of thing... where you clap down on the first note then slide your one hand down the other until you release... this might be helpful to teach for...

Yeah.. i saw those the other day... and i think they look great... they have a lot of exotic wood and solid shells you can order... very good source. I don't know how the different exotics sound...
