Re: Man DId I Stink Last Night!

The other said it all - we all have days like that.

Don't let to much stress get to you. I'm sure everything will quickly come back to you : )

Re: Double pedals = 1/2 the drummer?

Why should it be about (new) vocabulary? For instance, aren't most of us spending hours training our weaker hand so it can be on par with our dominant hand?

I believe that for us to more or less...

Re: Double pedals = 1/2 the drummer?

This is a bit off KISS' initial interrogation but most of what I read here seems to be about using double pedal to play more or less intricate patterns to spice things up (be it a fill, a solo etc.)...

Senri Kawaguchi?

Yep there are a lot of talented youngsters around... But I think she's a very nice drummer and I love the fact that she covers songs from the anime K-On.

Re: Double pedals = 1/2 the drummer?

Let's add Dave Weckl, Marco Minnemann, Gregg Bissonette, Carter Beauford and Gavin Harrison just as many more contemporary drummers.

Re: Benny Greb

Awesome drummer, very nice person to meet!

I was lucky enough to meet him and help set up his kit a few years back when I was backlining for a local drum festival. He would walk up to everybody...

Re: Gretsch Catalina Maple vs. Yamaha Tour Custom

I've had experience with both Gretsch (Renowns and Catalinas in particular) and Yamaha kits backlining for local drums festivals and having them at my old drum school. While Gretsch makes very nice...

Re: Jumping/Standing on the bass drum

I would avoid it... You put your kick at risk of getting ruined and your band mate might get hurt. There are some other forms of stage presence that can make a good show.

Re: Genius drummers and what they have done.

That was my point with Donati - he's the guy doing the impossible on the drums. His playing sure is not for everybody, but his technique is out of this world.

Re: Genius drummers and what they have done.

Dunno... Maybe Virgil Donati for pushing the boundaries of modern drumming? He has the Einstein hair cut down also lol!

Re: Absolute nouveau lugs

They are useful if you need to change heads at gigs in my opinion - since you don't have to remove the tension rods, neither those or the washers are at risk of getting lost rolling away somewhere. I...

Re: YAMAHA STAGE CUSTOM. new heads?

I also own a Stage Custom kit. For your set up I would recommend Evans G2s over G1s - over what I have tried this combination gave the best overall results. EC2 batters will sound too dead if your...

Re: Playing Soft but...argh

My thing lately - I can't sleep so to pass time I practice at night on the pad sometimes. The thing is, in my house you can hear quite easily through the walls. I would set the metronome at the...

Re: Bass drum depth

Just to play oddball I wouldn't mind trying out a 20" or a 22"x19" kick :P

Re: Uncertain and Urgent (maple/birch)

Another vote for the Yamaha. If ever you want to resell later you'll be able to get a better price for it than for the Pearl.

Re: Drummers of divorced parents

Although this can be a very practical investment to be able to keep playing the day he'll move out (since most of us settle in a flat), the issue with that is money. He said he needs another 1000$ to...

Re: Drummers of divorced parents

First off, sorry for your parents...

Concerning the drums issue. I hope you are not trying to have two replica kits at each of their houses - that would be a huge unnecessary waste of money.

I...
