Re: Mapex Saturn vs Ddrum Dios Walnut

I have a Saturn and I couldn't recommend it more. I've played a lot of kits in stores and in venues, I've never played a kit that has made me want to swap/upgrade (I use the word 'upgrade' lightly...

Re: Funky snare - Supralite vs Acrolite

Thanks everyone.

I think if I was going to go brass I would go for that Carl Palmer snare over the World Max (it just looks so good) but either way I feel that since I already have a brass snare I...

Re: Funky snare - Supralite vs Acrolite

Thanks for all the replies.

The reason why I'm not really using the BB is because most of the time it's out and about at a gig or packed up in a case. Logistically that makes it difficult and...

Funky snare - Supralite vs Acrolite

Hi everyone,

Back again after a prolonged period of lurking. I'm looking at getting a new snare for some of the more funky music I'm playing. I'm after the Garibaldi type snare sound, so really...

Re: Mapex - help needed!

The tom mount is a Pro-M mount. Specifically the memory locks are from the Pro-M tom mount. So if those memory locks on that tom mount are the same that came with the kit, assuming that the tom mount...

Re: Bass drum

I think the M series one isn't isolated like the Pro-M. I've done the same thing to my M-Birch, and just left the bass drum mounting block in. I doubt it'd make any discernible difference to sound,...

Re: help....pearlv vision(vmx)or mapex saturn

Hey, I don't know about you, but I'm not too fond about the ISS. Heard many horror stories about them warping rims, I know for a fact they can be somewhat unstable especially on larger mounted toms...

Re: Mapex or Tama

Yes. Mapex M-Birch. I have one, have had it for two years now, taken it out places, not a single complaint. Fat, punchy tone, great hardware. As what mind_drummer said, you should be able to get one...

Re: Need ideas for music analysis

Yeah it's a very broad range of topics you're looking at. Maybe pick a specific genre that you're interested in, just to narrow it down? Or maybe two and compare and contrast...teachers love compare...

Re: What would you change about a drum brand?

To those talking about the EMAD vs the Powersonic, I still think the EMAD beats the powersonic by a mile. There were two bass drums set up in my local drum store, one Pearl Export, and one very old...

Re: Yamaha Drums

Thanks for the reply 2bsticks. I'm not too concerned about sound atm as I'm sure both have a great sound and I'll be hearing everything in person before I make the decision. I'm just thinking,...

Re: Yamaha Drums

Reviving an old thread... :p

I've got many dreams, that one day, maybe, I will own a high-end Yamaha kit along with you guys. Just spend the good part of an hour reading through this thread...ahhh...

Re: Another kit

I'd throw my vote in for the Yamaha. Good name, good drums, good quality, some of (IMO) the best sparkle finishes available today...
Thing is, I've tried this myself, and I can't find a SINGLE thing...

Re: Yamaha Nouveau Lugs

I should probably add, when I bought my generic kit (which is utter rubbish) I got five free tension rods. Quite funny, considering my Mapex M-Birch had only one free tension rod and that was for the...

Re: Ultimate Drumset!!

Well I've been doing my research on ~$1000 drumkits, the next one i'm going to buy, so I don't know much about high-end drumkits.

Still, I'd probably get a Yamaha Absolute, don't know which...
