Re: Over exuberance - a time & a place?

Plenty of skills, certainly enough to demo drums.

Just state its all about the drums. This thread specifically put the light on what you're doing.

Re: Over exuberance - a time & a place?

You wanna know the truth Andy?

We're just jazzed to hear a set of GURU'S in action, in their element, amongst other instruments in a real world gig situation, we're not even paying attention to...

Re: Hi-Hats: Tight or loose????

If you're clutch bottom nut comes loose during a gig, you need to get with a quick release type clutch. REMO and GIBRALTAR have them.

I have 4 of the GIBRALTRS and one REMO, you can see which one...

Re: The legendary sweet spot

Nick Burns further defines the nature of 'the sweet spot' of a bass drum (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yd186Hmkty4&t=2m20s), heretofore mentioned only in passing.

Re: New Sakae Trilogy kit!

Maple/Poplar/Maple 3-ply shells formed in the the same molds YAMAHA designed and built for SAKAE... 'and' they're dressed in plastic wrap.

Designed to be physically lightweight, which shows to go...

Re: Got hustled, any input apreciated

As in- Here's the grey area;

If 'the guy' advertised them as vintage, you could say you got hustled. Did you save the ad?

if 'the guy' priced them high and you went for it that's something...

Re: The legendary sweet spot

Start with defining- a sweet spot, if its sound, you're going to find it at different tuning ranges on the same drum, low will have a sweet spot, mid tuning and high etc. Or so a drum of quality...

Re: Alan Dawson: How Do You Sound? vs How Do You Look?

Again, it depends on the music. With the music Chaney is playing, IMO the visuals are going to be most memorable, not the simple 2 and 4 rock grooves and this relates to the 'dated' part.

In...

Re: Alan Dawson: How Do You Sound? vs How Do You Look?

Watch some more Chaney vids, he's doing stuff nobodies done bf.

The Crump vid is dance video with drums as a prop, certainly nothing like theatrics in a musical performance/concert.

If...

Re: Alan Dawson: How Do You Sound? vs How Do You Look?

Yes that guy (Zolton Chaney) knows how to play simple 2 and 4 rock.

I myself (and probably Dawson if) would not go see a band like Vince Neil, or Slaughter expecting to be impressed by the...

USA's made bf the buy-out (or bf that of an official DW meddling date is determined) will probably increase in value.

It'll probably take insiders to let us know if/when the first batch of GRETCH...

Re: Alan Dawson: How Do You Sound? vs How Do You Look?

That perception may be a little dated, it really depends upon the music (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VtrpBObV7l4).

Re: Ludwig Copper Phonic

The COPPER PHONIC actually has me considering getting a LUDWIG snare drum, even with the crappy lugs on it, which I would shit can ASAP for some tubes.

I wouldn't want a polished one, this is it...

Re: Questions re Yamaha's tight fitting tension rods

Tighter 'is' better IMO. As mentioned you could ream out the inserts, you can't go back tho w/o buying new inserts.

How often do you change heads really? Better to have a snug fit, "loser,...

Re: pdp Concept Wood Hoop kit NAMM 2015

Much better than what I believe was the lamest thing introduced at NAMM 2015 (drums), the DW LUXE HOOP (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zx_iPcZZF24&t=11m23s).

Unfricking real, takes the butt ugly...

Re: S-Hoops vs Yamaha Aluminium Cast Hoops

If S-HOOP made an aluminum version that'd be it.

Sound is subjective. The S in S-HOOP stands for 'safety', as in protecting your bearing edge, in that respect S-HOOPS stand alone.

The only...
