Re: Not me but

Whenever I play, my dog will lay down and go to sleep with her head almost directly under the snare or the floor tom.

I don't see how she can stand all the noise down there. When I'm playing...

Re: Hi-Hat Placement

The tom placement was the main thing I had to change. With the long legs, I can't comfortably reach the toms when they are mounted on the kick drum. I had to take them off and stand mount them. ...

Re: Hi-Hat Placement

Hey, from Colorado. Nailed the sticks on both, B. :) I really like the Trilok Gurtus. That's mainly what I use. The Zildjian dips were my daughters, but I occasionally grab them.

I do try...

Hi-Hat Placement

Finding the most comfortable and natural position for each piece on the kit has been a continuous journey for me since I picked backed up the sticks about a year an half ago. Little tweaks here and...

Re: ***Sign the DW Boycott List***

I don't now, nor have I ever, had any intention of purchasing a DW kit anyway. Too overpriced for me. That being said; if for some odd reason I did find myself shopping for a new DW kit, I believe...

Re: Should i buy a second floor tom?

I tossed around ordering the 16" floor tom to go with my 5 piece Mapex shortly after I bought it. At around 400 bones, I just couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger on it. Mostly because I can't...

His posts, and this thread are over 4 years old, that's how. ;-)

Hard to imagine how good the original poster is now.

Re: Adam Yauch dead at 47

Licensed to Ill was released the same year I got my first car. It was a little mini-truck with a camper shell that I dropped to the ground and filled the back with bass. BOOM BOOM BOOM!!! I loved...

Re: Could I use a triangular bass drum port?

This is what I was thinking when I first read it. The three corners will bear all the tension stress, and the straight edges will have no tension at all and will be loose no matter how tight you...

Re: Peter Grant

You've NEVER seen The Song Remains the Same? Oh my! :)

One of my favorite movie/documentaries of all time. The soundtrack is equally awesome. They show it on VH1 Classic all the time.

Re: Just recieved a piece to my kit, should I exchange it?

I would, if for no other reason than it's not right. That would bug the heck out of me. Especially if I bought new and paid full price.

Not sure on the tuning. At the minimum it could put...

Re: 16 inch Floor Tom/Bass Drum Conversion

Here's my stab at a 16" drum riser.

I wasn't sure if this was something I would use regularly, so I didn't really want to spend any money. I was determined to make something out of whatever I had...

For about a minute I kept clicking on the other pictures in your post to look at the bottle from other angles wondering why nothing was happening. LOL.

Re: Some problems??!!!!!

+1

Very inspirational Larry.

I agree with the comments on the money beat. It's fairly easy to get 8ths on hat, quarters on kick, snare on 2 and 4 going, but to make it sound good, to get it...

No problem. I've admin'd a few forums over the years.

Cool snare. That artwork is amazing. I'm sure it's just gorgeous in person.

Re: How I roll the Starclassics part deux

That's the exact set up my drum instructor has in his basement that we play on. All my leesons are on that same set up, and it's just an old no name kit his dad bought him 50 some years ago when he...

Re: Help playing with a click

I do a similar thing.

As soon as I hear that I am off a bit I concentrate so much on trying to get back that I spend the next 30 seconds under and overshooting it trying to get back on.
