In the picture, your grip looks extremely tight. In the video, your technique is actually quite fluid so too tight a grip isn't the culprit I don't think. Maybe the tendonitis bug just hunted you...

what about moving the 8" to the other side of the hihat? So it would go 8", hihat, then on down the line. It wouldn't put all the toms together, but it does create some interesting fill possibilities...
