Re: Transporting a drum set when homeless?

OK I take it back... I had a momentary lapse of decency. I'll give 10 bucks to the next homeless person I see to make up.

Re: 2014 STAGE CUSTOM review ☞

Are you comparing the color with an older kit? Birch turns yellow over time, all my Ikea furniture does.

Re: Really wanky behaviour....

I'm sure you're right about that. The same applies to firemen, teachers and nurses. They don't get the money they deserve BECAUSE they love their job so much. Is that fair? Honestly I don't know.

Re: Snare on 1 and 3?

Prince Sexy MF has the snare on 1 and on 2-and. It is not crazy to put the snare on 1. It's delicate though, it's like steak with chocolate sauce. It can be done but it can be done very badly. Had...

Re: Amazing Street Drummer in France

Don't underestimate the street artist... He plays his own stuff, there is no bar and yet he gets paid. :)

Re: Amazing Street Drummer in France

Exactly. It's not the wood, it's not the sticks, it's not the heads and not the brand. It's groove and creativity. Thanks for sharing the fresh air!

Re: Really wanky behaviour....

Sounds most of all like an amateuristic organisation to me. 8:50pm, then 4:30pm, then "the best we can do is 6:30pm". If the planning is that flexible, you could have expected everything else to be...

Re: When people ask you to 'play something', what do you play?

When people ask "play something", I ask what music they like, look it up on deezer and play along with it, with variable degree of authenticity.
I think it's hard to play something with drums only,...

Re: Here's an idea

+1
I think there is nothing wrong with today's kids and commitment. If they have 10 different interests, that's usually the parents that want their kids to have a 5 pages resumé at 10 years old.
If...

Re: Here's an idea

I guess there are several schools of thought. One is selection: lock the kid up with a practice pad and Stick Control and if (s)he's still paradiddling a year later, (s)he must be a committed future...

Re: who here uses in-ear plugs?

The damage will filter more than earplugs do, mate. And 24/7 too.

Re: Anyone tried taking cymbal bag and snare on a plane (Ryan Air)?

A cymbal bag is certainly too big to go as hand luggage on a Ryanair flight. You will pay extra (i believe it's 60 Euro, much less than if you Fedex it though) but more importantly you should check...

Re: Where are you and where is your mind?

Hi Dre,

I recognise that. As you said it's your brain playing tricks on you. Most people have this in any kind of situation performing in front of others, even more so when the others are...

Re: Songs With Bored Drummers

I don't think it's generational, there have always been people that like 60 ingredients on their pizza, but to me there is usually no "point" in such music or pizza, no theme, no meaning, no message....

Re: once again.....

There are many other, and much better reasons to play softly other than not wanting to upset the dinner crowd. Like, the song asks for it.

Re: Yamaha Stage Custom questions! Please Help!!!

Errrr... Don't get another kit if you can't manage to tune it in a day or two... Tuning ain't easy and unless someone does it for you, it's going to take weeks or months before the kit sounds the way...

I like that one.

Re: Gretsch Catalina Club Jazz

Which hole?
The hole in the shell is a vent, all shells have one in order to breathe when they are hit.
The hole in the head, if there is one, is a port (see Gear/Heads for several threads), which...

Re: Looking for a good intermediate kit for about $600

Stage Custom is birch birch, no poplar, and systematically voted thumbs up by people who actually do know, on this forum.

The Mapex will probably make you happy too.

Pick your favorite finish.
