Re: RHCP - Walkabout intro time signature
Like I said, feel free to chart it out using any time signature you want, but the track is almost certainly written, counted and played in straight 4/4. The fill you're referring to simply goes over...

Re: RHCP - Walkabout intro time signature
I'm able to count 4/4 just fine through it, but if you wanted I'm sure you could transcribe it with various other time signatures to get all the accents to land on downbeats.
The 1 of the first...

Re: Met a guy who really likes his E kit
I don't think anyone's saying e-kits can't sound good, only that they don't sound like a-kits.
Neil Peart makes excellent use of his e-kit. When he wants electronic sounds, he uses an electronic...

Re: Met a guy who really likes his E kit
I'm guessing he was purely an e-drum player, with little experience with how to actually play acoustic drums.
I've played the current top-of-the-line Roland kits, and they're great for what they...

Re: Fede Rabaquino
Love his constant smile and crazy stick tricks, and of course the fact that he's an excellent drummer.

Re: Cymbals before toms
Not quite what you were after, but Neil Peart sets up his electronics side of the kit with cymbal pads underneath the tom pads. He doesn't usually use them to trigger cymbal sounds though, so in this...

Re: LOUD metronome?
Headphones or earbuds will be your best bet. Getting a metronome that's louder than a drum kit will probably require you to run it through a PA system, and will definitely not benefit your hearing.

Re: 2 up 1 down vs 1 up 2 down
If I'm feeling a bit lazy, I prefer the ease of playing 2-up, 1-down, where all my toms are within easy reach.
However, I definitely prefer the sound (and look) of a 1-up, 2-down setup, with two...

Re: Sonor memory locks for tom legs HELP!
I ordered them through my local drum shop. The model number is Sonor ML-R, and most dealers should be able to order them for you.
Very annoying that Sonor floor tom legs don't come with locks as...

Re: Tight screws for black beauty?
Most definitely, the stock snares on the BB are pretty shoddy (in my experience and opinion). Mine started snapping after only a couple of hours. I've got Puresound snares on my BB (and all my other...

Re: Bad reviews?
He's referring to how many bands in the punk genre basically had no idea about technique, chord names, reading music or anything like that. They knew a few simple chords and basically just used those...

Re: Cymbal Tightening
Mike Portnoy is pretty notorious for this, and there are probably many others.

Re: We have a spy amongst us ;)
I think MAD has the answer right there. Views aren't added continuously, they're just accumulated and added in bulk. That's why older threads have more logical view counts, while new threads only get...

Re: We have a spy amongst us ;)
A thread with three replies has four posts (since the OP isn't included in the "Replies" count). So it actually adds up ;-)
That said, I have no idea how the Views count is calculated. Seems like...

Re: Here is an interesting concept
Those are designed to mount on a hoop, so you'd have to either mess with your cajon or mount it on something else and then place it next to your cajon so that the piezo makes contact with the cajon...
