Re: Teeth - drum kits in your head

I typically kill the overtones with gum. Big Red works great to get that slappy metal sound. Hope this helps. I also have a trigger system for creating sounds with my teeth while playing a regular...

Re: Joey Kramer

I used to play along to old albums like Toys in the Attic, Get Your Wings, Classics Live (killer drum performance throughout), Draw the Line, and IMO the best album, Rocks. The song "Combination"...

Re: Teeth - drum kits in your head

This is crazy. I thought I was the only one too. I have a pretty good library of music. I'm still working on Ticks and Leeches by Tool. I wonder if WFD will have a category. I must be up around...

Re: Neil Peart

Portnoy, Jordison, Tim "Herb" Alexander, Simon Phillips, Alex Van Halen, Greg Bisonnette. To name a few. Other drummers tend to play this with a double stroke on the bass drum. It can be played...

Re: Neil Peart

The "four step roll" as it is called in parts of the world. Bonham did a three step roll quite often or would do a fast double for the fourth note. Moby Dick is a great example of the three step...

Re: How Depressing Is It...

I know what you mean. I listened to a live recording and absolutely no dynamics. I practice them often enough but have a hard time applying them live. It should be mentioned I have only my bass...

Re: Famous drummers and their fanboys.

I personally do not take Youtube comments seriously and I think using those comments as a citation to the "who's the best" argument is pretty weak.

Its pretty natural for people and teenagers...

Re: Worst idea in Drumming

I forgot about the side by side single bass pedals. So true. They are highly collectible and I was wondering if I should put them as a bad idea. I wonder how they sounded.

Although I love the...

Re: Neil Peart

That, or he hasn't come to yet from passing out after reading that post. I have a feeling we will hear from the mighty Michael Drums soon.

Re: Neil Peart

I don't think you are in a position to decide on Neil's credibility, technical aspects or otherwise. I am however in a position to respond to your post which is my right as a forum member. You seem...

Re: Neil Peart

Do you really take Youtube comments seriously? Should I then take your poorly substantiated claims seriously? For one example, the innovation people may have been writing about does not deal with...

Re: Thomas Lang

Wonder what the drums sound like in real life rather than on video....outside....who knows what mixing or triggers done. I mean, c'mon, the drums are top notch and they probably sound better than...

Re: Superbowl Halftime - Zak Starkey

Crap. Roger, not Robert. Forgot my coffee this morning. Oh well, we slip up now and then....more now than then.

Re: Superbowl Halftime - Zak Starkey

It seemed to me that Zak was trying to look like Moon with certain nuances of his style such as raising his stick in the air and such. Zak is one of my favorites and the performance that blew me...

Re: Speed related to reflexes?

If you mean reflexes as the involuntary deep tendon reflexes then, no, they do not determine speed of voluntary movements. Everyone is wired differently and some are naturally more able to transmit...

Re: Clive Vs Nicko

"Live after Death"

Nicko in this album is not laid back at all and really drives the band. His ride work is tremendous as is his tom rolls (mmmm, tom rolls). This album opened my eyes to a more...

Re: George Kollias here...

Hello George!

Great to have you here. I saw a video of you and Thomas Lang a while back. Were there any ideas exchanged between you two and if so, what were they?

Thanks!

Tom

200 to 280? That was crazy. We truly are being visited by aliens, and most of them are drummers.

Very well. I misread it as you making a big deal out of it. Maybe you were misinterpreting his playing like I misinterpreted your thread. Kidding of course, and no, I won't critique your playing. ...

Re: Inappropriate drumming

Seems pretty rude to plug your ears in front of the guy. Have some class and understand not all amateur drummers are to your liking and may even be far from your ideal standard. There are people...

Re: No respect, I tell ya.

Best to leave the sticks there or at least some small Jazz size like 7As or smaller. You would be surprised what people hit drums with (screwdivers, hands, tree limbs)

I hate when people want to...
