Re: Two floor toms....

Ha! It's just the pic. It's very reachable. I'm short and fat so reach isn't my strong suit!

Re: Two floor toms....

To each his own. I love my two floors. I have 2 kits with 14,16 and 16,18. The only way to fly in my opinion!

Re: 99 ludwig 9 plys

Honestly it's not hard at all. Clear powerstroke 3 for the batter and coated ambassador for the reso. Piece of felt on the reso is all I have going on. Nothing at all inside the drum. It sounds...

Re: 99 ludwig 9 plys

Thanks bull! I am not playing out very much at the moment but I have been pondering the case thing. On my last kick drum which was a 24 x18, I had 4 Atlas mounts and it fit in a 24 x18 protection...

Re: 99 ludwig 9 plys

A bit of an update. I had my guy build out a 16x16 floor tom. It's a 6 ply from the 70's and it blends perfectly. You can see the blue and olive badge. Now I'm waiting on the rest of the badges to...

Re: What's your latest purchase?

Thanks man!

Yeah, they sound great. I have a classic maple in Bonham sizes and usually prefer large sizes but I wanted some "normal" sizes. Punchy and fat with great volume. Easy to tune up. They...

Re: Club Date SE or Signet?

Can't speak to the signets. I own a classic maple but the edge is different so I'm sure that would give it a difference than my CM's. I have played a club date. The fab 3 outfit. I can tell you that...

Re: Paiste 2002, B8 but why do they sound so good?

Just picked up a set of 2oo2's:

15" sound edge hats
22" ride
18"crash
19" crash

Oh boy are they delicious!

Re: Wood vs Metal

Ok. My home state. Truth is its the smallest state but with the longest name. It actually is!

The state of Rhode Island and providence plantations!

Oh.....metal, for sure.

Re: Drum Configuration

This.

When it comes to heavy music there is no replacement for displacement. A 16 is a must on the floor. (My humble opinion, of course)

Re: It's the room not the kit !

The room is to us drummers what speaker cabs are for guitarists/bassists and the like.

Re: 99 ludwig 9 plys

Got her all dialed in today. Coated emperors over coated ambassadors for the toms. Got rid of the superkick and put a clear ps3 on it. Holy lord! The boom is definitely in the room.

Re: 99 ludwig 9 plys

Yes this along with a 16x16 floor tom would make it a Bonham sized kit. He also used 12x14 and 12x15 racks throughout the years.

Re: 99 ludwig 9 plys

I had my eye on these since they were bare shells on his shelf. The shells are in perfect condition. Once he finished them I went down, took a look and got them. Think I'm going to have him put some...

Re: 99 ludwig 9 plys

Picked them up today! I'm very excited. Can't wait to rip into a 26 kick drum! Going to play them tomorrow night. He's also building me a 20 inch floor tom in the same build out. I can't wait!

Re: Ludwig shells from 93?

The we're definitely 2 plies that were thicker than the others. Though I thought I counted 6 total. Aren't super classics 4 ply?
And Karl, if I buy them they may get a re wrap in gold sparkle and...

Ludwig shells from 93?

So I ran into a kit from 93. At least I think so as they are all stamped 893 on the inside of the shell. Large Monroe keystone badge. Red lacquer with mach lugs. 22, 10, 12, 13, 14, 16 shells....

Re: Club date or brooklyn?

You know, I've never played a stage custom but lots of people sing it's praises. Really seems like it's the king of the affordable kits. Might have to go try one out.
