Re: guitarist using "the force"

IIRC, the Kessel run is an area of space that has many blackholes which affect where you can navigate safely. Going a shorter route increases the possibility of going into a blackhole. ....And yes,...

Re: Pacific Platinum (PDP) Part Needed!

Have you contacted Gator about this? IIRC, that's about the time period that they were having issues with the glue they used on the liner out-gasing, causing the metal parts to rust. They may not...

Re: How can this be possible?

A question for the OP, do you tap your left foot when you drive? It could also be that your left foot may be a little faster than your right with ankle strokes due to tapping your foot while you...

Re: YOUR BETTER AT BECAUSE OF DRUMS

When I was learning to drive many, many years ago drumming helped me with learning to drive with a manual transmission. Drumming improved my left foot.

Re: Do you have a piece of equipment that you've used since day 1 and still use it regularly?

My hi hat, DW 5000, that I got in 92 that I still use to this day. I didn't get it when I first started, but it's my oldest piece of gear, and I've never had any issues with it.

Re: Stage Fees?

As already stated, pay to play has been around forever. My band generally don't do those types of shows unless it's a really good bill (known national/international act). Generally we do shows...

Re: Help with hand pain, stiffness

I'd go get your neck checked out by your Dr. If the symptoms are in both hands, and there wasn't an injury to both arms around your elbows, that tells me that there may be something going on where...

Re: Albums that had a huge impact on your current playing?

For me it's Death's SYMBOLIC. Gene Hoglan is a major influence for me. Imagine how I felt 20+ years ago (before the interwebs), when I found out that he is also a lefty who plays open handed on a...

Happy birthday Andy! It's also my son's 10th birthday today too. What Lego sets did you ask for?

Re: In the studio

That's a tough one. Have you thought of showing them remastered stuff, and comparing them to the original mixes? Like taking the old Death CDs and comparing them to the remastered versions? I...

Re: Los Angeles drum shops

Thanks Bermuda.

My plan is to atleast make it to pro drum, because that place is amazing and we'll be in Hollywood. Last time I was in the area, I think Sam Ash was across the street from GC. I...

Los Angeles drum shops

We are going to LA this week to go to the happy place, and while we're down there we are going to do a sight seeing day. I haven't gone around to the LA drum shops/music stores in about a decade. My...

Re: What's your favorite cover (maybe limit to 2-3 songs) that your band plays right now?

The only cover my band does is Without Judgement, by Death. I love the middle section of that song.

Re: How many RPMs could you withstand from a spinning drum riser and still be able to play?

I think it would depend on the individual, and just as important how long the mic cables are. I remember reading an interview, with I think Tommy Lee, and he said that one night the tech lost count...

Re: Lars Ulrich using DW Hardware

The pic above looks like the drop lock is engaged, so there isn't anything tricky going on. If you disengage it, the top cymbal would drop down. I may be missing something in your question.

Re: Your weirdist gig?

The one that stands out for me was when we played a strip club. Melodic death metal doesn't go with stripping, those women didn't know what to do with the music is trucking along at 200-220bpm. ...

Congrats Bo!
When does the show start? My family and I will be at the happy place the second week of October, and would love to see the performance.

Re: Anyone know what this set is?

It's a Sonor kit, not Yamaha at all. If you make the picture lager, you can see the Sonor emblem on the lugs. I'm guessing it's from their "Force" series kits, which one I have no idea.

Left hand lead, but right footed.
Thats not my kit.
I'm naturally left handed but right footed, so my kit is set up is set up this way, but i have hats and a ride on the right side too. I'd post...

Re: Gretsch USA Custom 14x6.5 Cast Aluminum

That would make sense, DW owns Gretsch and would use the same place to source the shell from.

Re: Light hearted Tuesday nonsense :)

Thats a bit excessive, I would think you could get by with a hand engraver and a jig of some sort. Are you using tungsten for the blanks?

Let us know how it goes. My family and I will be at the happy place in the beginning of October, we could give a review of the show if it's going by then.

Sounds like you did a good job and he a fun gig. It gets easier, and things will be more automatic, in a good way, the more you play out.
Little mistakes happen to all of us live, and as long as...

Re: Making the jump to two bass drums!

What ever you do, don't get a pearl rack. They look like bleacher seats, and are fugly.

I realize you have a connection with Pearl, and I would suggest getting one of their racks and trade it in...
