Re: I wonder if Neil Peart will ever play again?

Just like you or me, Neil eventually called it a day. Neil, I assume, saw he was in a place financially where he could live the life he wanted without touring. I don't think physical limitations are...

Re: Hey Joe: Great drumming or overplaying?

I think the track is fine as is. IMO, it would be the Producer's job (Chris Chandler in this case) to point out any overplaying, etc.

Re: New for Ludwig in 2019?

I'm actually back to thinking I'll purchase new Ludwig classics. And order SBP finish since that is the same as my vintage set (which I'll keep). I was in Nashville last week and saw two shows. Both...

Re: Is this statement about 'hired guns' kinda true or not..?

Bermuda, just curious

Now one can do pretty much every financial transaction with their phone. Back in the day, how did traveling musicians handle such? Did you get a weekly check on the road?...

Re: Snare buZZZZZZ and recording

Funny story. I was "self recording" all parts to a song I wrote years ago and I wanted that Live Neil Young sound. I recorded a track with the the floor monitor playing the mix just to capture the...

Re: I wonder if Neil Peart will ever play again?

Paraphrasing Neil from Time Stands Still movie "I could play Rolling Stones music at 70, I won't be able to physically play Rush music at 70"

Again Paraphrasing...I'm sure someone has the exact...

I wonder if Neil Peart will ever play again?

Just a guess, I say Neil is finished with drums. In fact, I bet NP has not even played a beat since R40. I know Neil has the writing thing going on and looks like the Clockwork Angels series may be...

Re: New Bill Bruford Conversation

IMO, drummers should force themselves to get involved with the songwriting process. Even if it's just hammering down some basic melodies in Garageband and presenting to your band. I think back in the...

Re: New Bill Bruford Conversation

Go on down the Trap Set library and listen to the Phil Collins interview very interesting. Especially Phil's Carl Palmer comment.

Not to be critical and knowing Phil has some health issues...boy...

Re: The Forgotten Beatle (replaced Ringo)

Everyone who handed a Beatle a napkin has written a book. If Nicol wrote one, it would be one of the few worth reading.

Re: What killed off Slingerland?

Slingerland for all intents and purposes has died. Rogers, except for some reissued snares is dead. Premier is now no more. Peavey never really got off the ground. The million dollar question is

Re: Drum gear gimmicks that didn't really catch on

I believe Stewart Copeland was wearing white gloves on many of the reunion dates a few years back. There's also pics where he was not wearing them.

I've never tried gloves.

Re: Ever bought a recording just because it featured the kind of drums you have?

Although the liner notes may say drummer XYZ endorses this brand, don't be surprised if another brand may be used in the recording.

Re: Boutique snare drums-roadworthy?

When I think Boutique when it comes to drums, I think of expensive special editions like DW's exotic or artist series snares (ex Nick mason, etc).

Re: NDD: Gretsch Brooklyn Cream Oyster

Looks like one of those Amazon listings that will result in an "unavailable" letter a couple weeks after purchasing. I've ran into quite a few of these with CD box sets. The big give away is lack of...

Looking for help identifying old drum teacher

Back in Dayton Ohio, around 1984 or 85, I started a few sessions with a teacher at a music store. The teacher was in Dayton for a short stint (1 tear I believe) because his wife was consulting a...

Re: Are DW drums still cool?

I was at Sweetwater a couple weeks back and they had a PDP set on display. I was really impressed with build quality. The snare was really heavy and built like a tank.

This set sounds really nice....

I don't suggest this...this thread just triggered my childhood

Re: Are DW drums still cool?

I personally think the overall perception of DW's sound are the DW/Remo special heads that come with the drum. I've heard DW kits that can "ring" with the best of them with regular old remo...
