Why the "hate" for nylon tips??

I saw a Youtube video with Ginger Baker and he said NO to nylon tipped sticks.

I've heard quite a few other people grumble about them over time, but I've never heard anyone explain WHY they don't...

Re: Vibes playing vid

NICE!!

I've been wanting a set of those babies for years.

I heard somewhere that Larry Bunker used to play the vibes.
It can only help make for better drumming for sure.

I'm taking baby...

Re: Advice please?

LOTS of great advice from everyone.

I had a similar experience a couple of years ago for the same kind of music.
I hadn't touched a drum set in 30 years, so I was a bit nervous (almost nauseous)...

Re: Has anyone read the book "The Wrecking Crew"?

It's on hold at the moment. Some sort of "red tape" holding things up.
I have NO idea when (if ever) it will see the light...

Re: No rudiments taught in marching band?

Who Is Tony,

I WISH I went to YOUR High School.
They literally didn't show us anything.

No rudiments taught in marching band?

When I was in High School, I joined:

Marching Band (snare)
Stage Band (drum set)
Concert Band (timpani)

Not only were we not taught ANY rudiments, but their existence was never mentioned.
I...

Re: Why I Never Collected Famous People’s Autographs

I usually don't ask for autographs either, but not for the same reason. I feel that it is an imposition on the "famous personality".

I am fortunate enough to only have one that is very special to...

Re: So...where do you keep your spare sticks?

Just like Superman said.....I keep them in the top lugs of the bass drum butt end up for an easy grab.
However, I'd like to make something customized out of materials around the house OR from the...

It would...

Re: Ever look back at videos of yourself playing and cringe?

Oh yes!!

I've also listened to some audio of a rehearsal from 6 months ago as well.
UGH!!
The ONLY good thing about the resulting cringing, is that at least we are...

Re: Cause of Meter Speeding Up Discovered.

Yep......you guys are right.
I was just fired from the band.

Cause of Meter Speeding Up Discovered.

I finally figured out WHY my meter has been speeding up lately (much to the disgust of my bandmates).
It happens every time I have to "rush" to get to a certain part of the kit and back again to...
