Re: How to remove badges?

Hahaha!! Those massive Mapex badges would be no problem - the vent hole doesn't run through them. It's a shame I'm not working on a set of Saturns, I could post pics and start a firestorm.

Re: How to remove badges?

Re: How to remove badges?

Thanks for the link. I wish they showed the part where they used the screwdriver and mallet - that's the scary part! lol

How to remove badges?

I am considering removing the wrap from my Tama Silverstars, and I am not sure how to remove the badges without destroying them or possibly damaging the shell. The vent grommet passes through the...

Re: Cajons for dummers? Scandalous?

I seem to be the only drummer alive who just doesn't dig a cajon. I've played them and got along fine, I've heard them played well, and I've heard them mic'd up nicely. I just don't like them. I...

Re: How sentimental are you about your drums?

I would have answered differently even a year ago, but my drums are just things and I can't say I'll keep them forever. I am a pretty sentimental person, but my sentiment is usually focused on people...

Re: Two floor toms....

I have used two floor toms on a couple of kits, one a 14/16 combination and the other a 16/18. I never had any issues reaching the second floor tom. The only problem I ever had was when I played a...

Re: How LOUD were the classic rock bands??

This is definitely true. A 30 watt tube (valve) amp can easily be as loud as a 100 watt solid state amp. I don't know the details, but have certainly experienced the reality of this phenomenon.

Re: Tension

I follow you.

I was watching a guy at the gym yesterday, running on the treadmill. Really fit, muscular guy. He was running FAST and he ran for a long time, but technically his form was terrible,...

Something we use for karate and sparring gear is simple isopropyl alcohol. Once you decide how to deep clean your throne, Larry, get a spray bottle and fill it with 91% isopropyl alcohol. Spray the...

Re: Interesting Defective Product

I bet that cymbal was stepped on or otherwise pushed into that position. I have seen it happen, though not with a high-end cymbal, and once it's inverted it stays that way until it's popped back to...

Re: First proper gig - report

I'm late to the show as usual, but I'm tickled things went well. Or, to quote someone I know, I'm chuffed to bits!

Very happy for you, Madge.

Re: Mapex USA Maples

I think they'd be a decent buy. I'm not sure they'll have the resale value of certain vintage drums, but they are definitely unique! I played Mapex for years, and even their China-built drums are...
