I cramp up when I play live because of the adrenalin, and I exert way more energy than I do at a normal band jam.

If I don't play for some time too I lose strength and endurance.

How long have...

Re: Hi-Hat speed help.

Missing the spirit of the music is changing to 1/4 notes. Trust me.. don't do it.. it may burn.. and you have to dig down and push but you'll be happier when in a few years down the road and your...

Re: Hi-Hat speed help.

First,
I do molar, I like playing the 16ths but hearing a bit of an 1/8th note pulse in there. for...

playing fast involves ankles too, not your entire leg. and...

Re: Head rebound on different size bass drums?

As someone who place a bunch of fast kick I'll give my input.

I started with a 24, then 22, and am now down to a 20. no matter the head having a tighter batter helps with rebound, to a point.....

Re: Double Bass Drum Futility

I agree with most of that...I know OP doesn't want to be doing blazing fast kick. so don't even think about heel toe at lower speeds..

This isn't a great technique when you want power and...

Re: Double Bass Drum Futility

Re: Double Bass Drum Futility

110-140 should be achievable no problem...

Everyone has a different setup.. I think starting at MAX or MIN tension isn't great... start in the middle.. practice for a while... make a SMALL...

Re: Double Bass Drum Futility

Its easy to achieve high speeds with llow spring tension. just need a tighter batter head.

Re: Starting Back At The Basics Is Very Humbling

I couldn't agree more.

I have recorded on 6 CDS, have no problem playing blast beats at 220+bpm and very fast double kick etc. many over the top fills.

I have also been playing for about 17...

Re: New Click User

Two things to try.

if you know your songs well enough jam without the band to em, with the click... if not just play solo with a click.. for a LONNNNNG TIME.

playing with a click takes...

Re: Double Bass Drum Futility

the midrange is the hardest...

i can play slow.. and i can play fast,, 160-200 is the hardest range for me... once i hit 200-220bpm it gets easy on the ankles... then...

Re: Sorry - this just had to be posted!

Re: Felt vs plastic

Both in feel, and sound, recorded or in a live situation.

Wood/plastic will have more attack, more bounce, and cut threw much more.....

Re: Good snare drums after the packaged kit one

First off, what is your tuning experience? I'm just saying it took me YEARS to get my snare to not sound like garbage.

Second, how many different head combos have you tried. Id suggest an evens...

Re: Kickport, does it really make a difference??

You know before I tried the batter head one I was not convinced myself.

If you like a dry snare, with a loud crack and nice sensitivity I was blown away by the fxports. I have yet to get the tom...
