Re: Buddy Rich trap case

What a great story Tony. I particularly like the ethos of your friend, passing it on to a good home, someone who will treasure it and appreciate it.

Out of interest exactly how do you get...

Re: Recording technique

Unfortunately then the poor other musicians have to effectively learn the tempo fluctuations in the song. Which means that they have to be really on it if its all over the place!

Re: Good Bassist.

This is awesome when it happens. I've had this with both a bassist and a guitarist, that knowledge of each others playing and nuances that you instinctively know where you should both go next.

Re: Midi-Sheet Music I need your help!

Thanks a lot mate, this is much appreciated. I've pm'd you too :)

The stuff cubase output was bizarre. Pressing play and following the notes on screen, nothing seemed to make sense. Not that I...

Midi-Sheet Music I need your help!

Morning all,

Some of you may already be aware (and be sick of it by now) that I'm getting married in October. As a surprise to me future wife I've written a fun little song that my wedding band...

Re: Really wanky behaviour....

Unfortunately in my experience, here in the UK hardly any venues properly operate the PRS/MCPS service.

As I understand it every gig you play you should be filling out a form to state which of...

Re: Really wanky behaviour....

Thing is this is exactly how the UK gig circuit works. There are barely any venues that pay and promote the gigs themselves without all these kind of shenanigans and hoops for the band to jump...

Re: Mind Blown - Performing musician meets All State teenager

Sometimes its nice to know something you take for granted is actually pretty difficult to do!

Re: MEMORIZING DRUM PARTS

I think another important thing to remember is that its entirely possible that some of the cues you rely on when practising to an mp3 may not be there, or may be slightly different when playing with...

Re: Practicing using different muscle groups on alternate days

Thats what Jeff was getting at. When you weight train your goal is to break down the muscle and then during the rest period it builds itself back up and then some. Without the appropriate rest period...

Re: Recording Compared to Playing Live

this very thing encouraged me to er um "tone up" a touch. Lovely video close up of the drummer, we stop the song, my belly keeps going :(

Don't underestimate posting on here either dude. I would certainly look you and Tony up for lessons not to mention a few others if I lived near any of you.

Re: Signs you're getting better at the drums

Whilst I obviously appreciate the sentiments of people wanting to play with you and making people dance, the above two resonate with me the most.

From a creative perspective, being able to play...

Re: Can music ever be financially rewarding again?

Whilst all of us probably appreciate the sentiment with Mr Zappas words here. A part of the problem is the expectation level of "artists".

I make music by spitting into a bucket whilst playing my...

Re: Discouragement for Chops I Don't Have

To echo these sentiments, music is a form of communication and expression. So you should learn what you feel you need to learn in order to express what it is that you want to say with the instrument!...

Re: Can music ever be financially rewarding again?

I wonder if the market would bear some kind of subscription model.

As an artist you could have your fans, subscribe with a small monthly fee. That could allow them access to practice room footage,...

Re: Anticipations, etc.

So, this sounds to me like you are writing a song and have hit some problems programming your drums.

Why not post the snippets and see what people come up with?

Re: Can music ever be financially rewarding again?

There are also some very talented people at the lower level making very servicable band videos on smaller budgets. One of my friends in particular stopped playing drums to focus on his video work and...

Re: Using less hat

I've always loved quiet hats. My ideal sound is a nice huge kick, biting snare backbeat and a barely there hi-hat sound.

I've banged on about them in a number of threads, but my 12" zildjian...

Re: Recording in the studio

Whilst that is semi shocking from one point of view. Its also pretty cool.

At least you still require an actual drummer to play something to get that kind of feel into it.

I guess this falls...

Don't worry Bermuda, I don't for one second expect to be 'busy'! Its just something I'd like to explore.

I'd be happy just being yet another fish in the pond and playing the odd session here and...
