Re: Eric Singer

Love that Badlands debut. Singer's great on it. Wish Jake E. Lee would come out of hiding and make some new music..

Re: Jerry Gaskill

His little drum break in "Over My Head" was a real lesson in doing something musically simple but oh so cool. He has great taste. Have you heard his solo album? Good stuff.

Re: Peter Criss

I think I'm one of maybe three people in the known universe that liked Peter's solo album.

Re: John Bonham

The page count for this thread trails off of my screen!!! LOL!!!! Guys, I think if we can get enough pages in this thread, we can petition the man upstairs to return Bonzo to earth!

Anyway, my...

Re: Gretsch Catalina Maple or Pearl Export?

Don't sweat it. There's no reason why you shouldn't get a perfectly fine sound from your exports. I know a drummer who gigs professionally and he's recorded albums with his exports and they sound...

Re: Dale Crover

I remember, back in the day, Dale would play a show wearing nothing but tighty whities and would keep his extra sticks tucked in the waistband. Whenever he lost or broke a stick he'd whip out out...

That's awesome! Although, I'm more of a Wall Street Journal person.

Re: Rediculously Massive Drum Kits

Where is the bottom picture from? It looks like he's in an opera house. What a sweet gig.

Re: Rediculously Massive Drum Kits

Portnoy's kit looks so ghetto. I'll bet the drop cloth for that kit has the Phat Farm logo on it.

Re: Drummers who have influenced you

I think I posted a list before in this thread but I can't find it so I'll add Bobby McIntyre formerly (recently) of the Twilight Singers.

Re: Ludwig Supraphonic 402 New or Vintage?

Personally I think any difference in sound is negligable (sp?). I've heard drummers at shows playing brand spanking new supras and they sounded great. Having vintage and 70's based Luddies is nice...

Re: Tommy Lee

Tommy's pretty tight but why does he and other old fart rockers cater to this fake rock and roll crap. That chick looks like the creation of an mtv exec at a brainstorm session. Mtv culture needs to...

Re: Small kit

Check out Deerhoof. They are probably the coolest indie-rock band in existence at the moment . Their drummer Greg Sangier uses what looks like a marching kick a snare, a hi-hat and one cymbal and yet...

Re: Meg White - Drum set ?

I'm willing to bet that, in the studio, brand loyalty goes out the window in favor of whatever sound the Stripes think they need on a particular song. I'd love to see the stuff they have laying...

Re: Meg White - Drum set ?

I'm guessing they're classic maples given that Classics are their flagship model and she an endorsee. But that's just a guess.

The kid from Tokyo Police Club is pretty good. They're becoming one of my favorite new bands.

Re: Keith Moon

Agreed. It's hard for some to believe, but Moonie was the "IT" drummer in London in the 60's. The first three who albums are all the proof you need. Everybody wanted to be him, including bonham...

Re: John Bonham

Oops, just read the list of Bonzo's kit posted above. Still, the kick look a little longer to me for some reason.

Re: John Bonham

The spurs on the reissue kit are different along with not being a three-ply. I've seen photos from recording sessins where he just uses a snare stand to hold the rack tom but he has used both. I...

Re: Best Drum Track Of All Time

Nice list!

I'm gonna go with (and this usually changes with the weather):

The Beach Boys "Wouldn't It Be Nice" I love the drums on this track! I don't know for certain if it's Dennis Wilson...

Re: John Bonham's Dazed and Confused Riff

One thing's for sure. Bonzo never played it the same way ever. Actually he rarely played anything exactly the same. So I wouldn't worry about learning it note for note.

Re: Alex Van Halen

I gotta say I like his solos. Sure he can get a little sloppy but that's what rock and roll is about (for me, anyway). Plus Alex is one of the last remaining rock drummers who seem to have that...

Re: Any punk drummers that anyone likes?

Thank goodness somebody mentioned George Hurley. I personally think he deserves a profile on this site. Ditto for Topper (unless I overlooked him).
