Re: club date se

The new Club Dates have a cherry/gum shell. I'm pretty sure they were never meant to be in the Element line. They are a very warm sounding kit. Total vintage sound and vibe, in a modern kit.

Re: 24" bass drum - 10" main snare, surely not?

Not a fan of the 10" snare, but if that's what the customer wants .... so be it. Certainly he/she will have a signature sound.

Re: Your opinions on this kit?

Yeah, at that price point, you get UT heads, and it's pretty much a given that your gonna want to swap 'em out.

Re: Your opinions on this kit?

Nice set. The Element series is very popular. I know a guy who gigs one in a blues band. Never heard him complain about it. And it sounds good.

Re: Gretsch Broadkasters Vintage Build; Floor Tom Legs Rattle Against Rezo Hoop

Interesting. Every RB kit I've ever seen, has close tolerances between the leg and die cast rim. Mine doesn't rattle, however. So it's not a problem, just a quirk.

Re: Gretsch Broadkasters Vintage Build; Floor Tom Legs Rattle Against Rezo Hoop

Yes, I know it's upside down. I play it that way. But either way, the leg hits the die cast rim. I have it "flipped" so the tom leg holder grabs the knurling, rather than the smooth portion of the...

Re: Gretsch Broadkasters Vintage Build; Floor Tom Legs Rattle Against Rezo Hoop

Do your diamond mounts have gaskets between them and the shell?

Re: Gretsch Broadkasters Vintage Build; Floor Tom Legs Rattle Against Rezo Hoop

Indeed, It's a design flaw in the diamond leg mounts. They do that on my vintage Round Badge kit. And true to the original kits, the new Broadcasters mirror this.

Re: Yamaha Rydeen Jazz Kit potential purchase

As a beginner kit, the Rydeen was one of the better sounding kits, at that price range. And that Yamaha hardware is good, solid stuff (if lightweight hardware is what you desire). Is jazz your style...

Re: Mapex Orion

I think the "hook" Mapex was pushing with the Orion series, was the exotic finishes. Trying to compete with some of the exotic DW finishes. And they did. I've seen some stunning Orion kits. However...

Re: The official, "Your services are no longer required" thread

One door closes, and another one opens. I'm sure you'll find another gig and/or music situation to replace the "rodent".

Re: Are E-kits only good for practicing at home?

Probably, yes. Other than a few Vegas lounge acts .... or a few Worship bands ...... you don't see e-kits on stage, that much. At least, not playing "traditional" styled music. Get into...

Re: Upgrade From Yamaha DP... 60's Ludwig?

Rogers info. "My understanding was that they switched from Jasper 3-ply to Keller 3-ply about `62 or `63 . . . and from a Keller 3-ply to a Keller 5-ply about `65 (maybe late `64) . . . "

I'm...

Re: Upgrade From Yamaha DP... 60's Ludwig?

Drag that someone butchered the floor tom. With the rack tom problem, might well be the the drum is out-of-round. If it's the wrap that's making the head snug, a trick some guys employ, is they trim...

Re: Upgrade From Yamaha DP... 60's Ludwig?

Have to take a look inside it, to know more. It could be a converted snare, or a converted Club Date 15x12 ...... or someone might have, back in the day, just ordered a Ludwig shell, with no holes...

You certainly weren't wrong to ask. The response from the guitar player ..... he's kinda proven himself to be a tool. And nothing wrong with you and/or any of your band mates working for Sam. Plenty...

Re: Am I a freak for not liking virgin bass drums?

This! As long as you can get your drums where you want them. I'm just the opposite, in that I'd rather have a virgin bass drum. But to each their own.

Re: Upgrade From Yamaha DP... 60's Ludwig?

Another idea, in hardware upgrades, is the Ludwig A.T.L.A.S. stuff. http://www.ludwig-drums.com/atlas/accessories_lac2973sp.php These work, using the same hole pattern that Ludwig has kept, for...
