Tune Bot Snare Drum Tuning

Just got Tune Bot and I'm having issues with my snare resonant head. I see people that are cranking up their bottom head lug to 300+ hz. I can get my bottom head in the 190s with the lugs...

Guitar Center OCDP Snares

Hopefully a simple question here...how can I tell if an OCDP snare is the lower end Guitar Center model? I played a really nice used $280 6.5x14 OCDP today at a reputable drum shop but I couldn't...

Re: Reasonable price for this kit?

He just wants a massive drumset. Pretty sure his reasoning behind getting a larger kit is that he previously had a 5 piece. His plan is to sell his 5 piece acoustic (which is terrible condition)...

Reasonable price for this kit?

I'm trying to help a friend with buying a kit. He has had crap kits forever and now he has money and space for a decent one.

I know...

Re: Lead Singer's Ego

Well the vocalist has continued his tactics at our latest practice. He took it upon himself to hop on my drums and show me how he imagined my part of the song would be. I told him I thought it was...

Re: Lead Singer's Ego

Both guitarists have been playing together since their teens. The bass player has been with them for the past 5 years so I am pretty much the new guy.

It sounds like I will just have to suck it...

Lead Singer's Ego

Been playing with the same guys for close to a year now. It has been fun but the lead singer/rhythm guitarist has been annoying me lately.

Our last gig, I played a song too fast. After the song,...

Re: Steve Jordan

Saw Steve Jordan with John Mayer last night. It was my first time seeing Steve play live and he blew me away. The guy has some serious groove and feel. He got a short solo about halfway through...

Re: The disco beat

I played this beat last weekend while jamming with a friend of mine who plays guitar. He really liked and ate it up completely. What really adds to the beat is open and closing the hi hats ever 4...

Re: Why do certain bands/jam sessions fizzle out?

Thanks Jon!

I haven't been in too many bands. One fizzling out was actually more my fault. The other band broke up because the lead vocalist got back together with his old band. He did call me...

Why do certain bands/jam sessions fizzle out?

I've been in a few cases where I'll jam with someone for a couple weeks or months then it just fizzles out. What's the deal?

For example, I'll jam with someone in hopes of starting a band and...

Re: playing other people's kits

I usually like to bring my own throne, maybe a cymbal or two, sticks, and maybe my pedal. I did however, become very salty after using a house kit for a show once. The double pedal fell apart while...

How do you define a "drummer's drummer"?

I went and saw Sonic Youth last night and Steve Shelley is a beast behind the kit. He is so very creative. I was looking at his wikipedia entry and it states that he is a "drummer's drummer." I...

Re: Drumming without click/metronome

I used to practice or play the same way. I just love playing along to songs but now I have realized it would be wise to play along to a metronome each time I practice to know exactly where each beat...

Re: Staring at the sun . . .

This could be good and bad for you. The good part is that it helps you maintain your concentration on what you are doing and what you may be preparing to play. But the obvious bad part is that you...

Re: Best Drum Track Of All Time

Steely Dan - Aja

The drum fills in between those figures is amazing. Some of the beats can be simple but fit the song perfectly!

How do you know when you are ready to give lessons?

Hey everyone!

I have been playing for 8 years on a set but had my first experiences with drums back in grade school on the snare. Never had any formal lessons on a kit though. Recently, I have...

Re: Good article on Bernard Purdie

Thanks for posting this!

It is so exciting to see newer drummers trying to replicate the Purdie shuffle or create their own interpretation. I always liked his shuffle on Babylon Sisters. Keith...

Re: Anybody else play with socks/bare feet?

I want to thank you all for the very helpful advice.

Developing a deep pocket
