Re: My 1st post: Help with Ludwig Snare.

Initially I thought those holes were for a muffler but I see what you're getting at, Al. Aren't they too high for the SS mechanism though?

Re: My 1st post: Help with Ludwig Snare.

Supra. And the fact it once had a muffler tells me it's probably earlier than a 90's model. Probably mid eighties.....around the time of the shift from Chicago to Monroe, at a guess

There's not...

Re: Mick Fleetwood

Agreed. Most probably an overdub.

If I were playing it, I'd either ditch the eighths on the hats altogether......the toms are by far the most prevalent voice during that section......or just use...

Re: What's the Hardest Position to Fill in a Band?

I've had more trouble finding good keyboard players than any other spot, over the years. Most definitely the hardest position to fill in the bands I've worked with.

Never had too much of an issue...

Re: Josh Freese Drum Setup?

He either broke, sprained or otherwise damaged it again.

As stated, Naigewron did all the sleuthing prior to the site crash. From memory he may even have provided links as supporting evidence.

Re: Possibly my first serious thread. Sexism.

Sorry Madge, looks like I deleted that last post while you were in the middle of replying to it. I'd had a couple of quiet ales after work and wasn't convinced it was reading the way I'd intended it...

Re: Possibly my first serious thread. Sexism.

Although save for the most derogatory and racist uses of the term, no one seems to get their knickers in a knot when anyone talks about being "one of the boys" or I say to my wife "I'm going out with...

Re: ATTENTION DRUMMERS WITH BLACK SPARKLE OR CHARCOAL FINISHES

Thought you already ordered these?

Anyways, check out some of Karl Crafton's CM kits. The guy owns some serious Luddy eye candy. From memory, one of them is finished in black sparkle..

Re: Josh Freese Drum Setup?

The reason for this set up was that he'd broken his foot and was playing the bass drum with his left leg. Hence why you also see two hi hats in the pic. One is closed tight, the other much looser.

Re: Possibly my first serious thread. Sexism.

Dunno. Your thread and ultimately, your call. But you invited wider thought, musings and discussion on this for a reason. I can only assume because something bugged you enough to want to follow it up...

Re: Possibly my first serious thread. Sexism.

Ah. Gotcha. Then while we're pretending there are no women, let's also pretend you don't speak English and we'll just call it 'lost in translation', hey? That way no one will know that I'm really an...

Re: Possibly my first serious thread. Sexism.

The right to what? You've misunderstood me. Read it again old mate. I merely made a prediction of people other than feminists not agreeing with the line of thought you're flogging. "Eyeball to...

Re: Possibly my first serious thread. Sexism.

I'll wager that kind of reasoning will have you eyeball to knee cap with a hell of a lot more than just the feminists of the world.

Re: Putting band name on kick drum head, with multiple bands?

Decals.

I believe they'll stick to an uncoated head. IIRC, there was an old thread here with a link to someone who does them. I'll try and dig it out for you.

Re: Possibly my first serious thread. Sexism.

Ironically, the prospect of being sexually propositioned has been a driving factor in many a young man's desire to pick up a guitar, a pair of sticks or belt out a tune in the first place.

Wish we...

No idea what's happening here. I didn't start this thread, I was just trying to reply to an existing one. Lord knows, the last thing I need is another bloody practice pad!!

Re: Just This Moment I Have Purchased A Black Beauty

That makes me curious though. Did none of the Legacy Keystone badges have s/n's?

The only non serial number BB's I was aware of were the B-stock drums with the cut B/O badges. Man, Ludwig sure...

Many of you guys are replying to a two year old post and the OP hasn't been here in almost as long.

Check post #15 to see why this thread was brought back from the dead.

Sounds like you can lay down a 4/4 groove. Great. It's as good a place to start as any. Now hook up with some musos for a jam and see how far you can take it

I posted this in the Rudd thread, but considering the wide interest this has generated, I'd better put it up here too.
