Re: Benny Greb's DVD about Groove

Maybe I misunderstood what you were saying, but you contribute by buying the dvd before it is released, and when (if) he reaches the desired amount, you get sent your copy. I think it's a very good...

Re: Tuning "experts" mini rant

I don't think those expert village things are funny, I just can't laugh at them. When I first watched that video with the drummer, I was thinking about quitting drumming within ten seconds. I don't...

Re: Anika Nilles

So often complex combinations can sound too technical, but she absolutely nails it, it sounds very musical. As you guys said, there is definitely som Grebishness in there, which is a good thing as...

Re: Where are you and where is your mind?

I find I play my best when I take risks and sort of let everything happen, if one knows what I mean. This is the easiest when I practise at home, where I can just sort of absorb the music and be a...

Re: Has this every happened to you?

Well, happens to me all the time. Tuning keys, sticks, the lot. I'm tuning a drum, put the tuning key away (this means just drop it) and I cannot remember what I did with it. I usually find it a few...

Re: Buying used. Any thoughts?

Thank you for your advice, I will certainly be looking at the crash and the pearl pedals, but the worldmax seemed a bit cheapish, to my eyes anyway.

Buying used. Any thoughts?

Hi, first time posting a thread here, but i was wondering if you guys could give me some advice on used pedals and cymbals that are an option for me to get. They all go for 800 nok, that's about 134...

Re: What makes a band?

Well, I think you're doing it right, and all I can say is:
Music is about communication. What you play depends on what you want to say. When you play the drums by feel, and play a fill in certain...

Re: Drum lesson with famous drummer....

Benny Greb is a guy I would definitely want to take lessons from, if the opportunity presented itself. He's such an amazing drummer and musician. I think he is a great teacher, and that's really...

Re: Tuning my snare: can't get rid of whiny overtone which is vibrating my snares

I think a little bit of a ring might just add that little "something" to the mix, say, if you're recording. I play a Tama Rockstar metal snare, and it rings quite a bit, so I use Coated Controlled...

Re: Tuning my snare: can't get rid of whiny overtone which is vibrating my snares

You even get the overtone without the snares? That's really weird. How tight is the bottom head compared to the top head? I had a horrible snare sound for many years, and Iv'e just recently figured...

Re: How do I muffle my bass drum?

If you want to get a good sound: get the best sound without muffling first, after all, if you stuff lots of towels in there, doesn't that really defeat the purpose of a bass drum? I use minimal...

Re: Tuning my snare: can't get rid of whiny overtone which is vibrating my snares

You can try loosening the tension of the head next to the snares on the bottom head. I don't know if this works, but it's a trick I use to prevent ringing when hitting the toms. I think the higher...
