Re: What pearl snare do I have?

Would it be the Vision line then? The export was discontinued and I only bought this early last year.

What pearl snare do I have?

I bought a pearl snare drum but I have no clue what series it is. It's 14x6.5, steel and that's all I really know about it. I paid 90GBP for it so I know it's not a great snare.

I have...

Re: Who uses a 12, 13, 16 combination?

They're actually quite small drums already. Not bad sizes, but they're definitely on the smaller side. I use a 13, 16, 18 set up with a 24x18 bass drum.

Selling a drum and keeping options open?

I currently have a 13x9 rack, 16x16 floor and another 18x16 floor tom. I don't use the 18x16 tom because It's not really easily accessible to me due to the layout of the room and I can't turn...

I waited about 3 days for my Gretsch kit.

Re: Beginners kit - small bass?

I'd say get the Cat Jazz, I own the Cat Rock and they're great drums, so I can only assume that they're just as good, but smaller. They sound fantastic too.

Re: Band Etiquette

Best way to think about it is this:

Rehearsal, transport, fuel money, etc, you all chip in.

Your own wear and tear is something that you personally have to fund. I'll be brutally honest with...

Re: How do you lay down a drum track in a song?

The way I did it when we recorded songs at college was the drummer and the bassist would go into the recording studio with the rest of the band in a control room, and a vocalist in vocal booth. The...

Re: Ergonomics?

Pictures would be nice but you should also go to a doctor. You don't want any permanent damage otherwise you'll likely not be able to play at all.

Re: Good tom angels? Dont awnser this if you think this is stupid-im learning ok?

I personally have my rack tom at probably 20 degrees from flat (but it's pretty low, maybe half an inch above my snare and they are basically touching) and my 2 floor toms just below my thigh, angled...

Re: sorry but i have to, BIG DRUM KITS

If people have the money and the space for it, then I don't see the problem. I personally grew up listening to Queen - Roger Taylor has played some pretty big kits in his time, yet I play a far...

Re: Are We Really As Open-Minded As We Think We Are?

I'd like to stop you there...

I don't agree he's THE best. He's pretty damn good, and I make no claims to be better than him but he isn't THE best in everybody's opinion.

I personally don't...

Re: Beginner Drummer

Look into something like a used Pearl Forum or Export kit if you're wanting to spend much money. You won't get much more than a toy drum kit for 200 though.

Re: Beginner Drummer

Height doesn't really matter - everything can be adjusted to suit everybody and anybody. Hell, there's a kid on youtube that has one arm and plays drums :D

How much money do you have?

Re: The Average Drum Kit.

I have a 20" ride and it works very well for rock, so it's not really about diameter, only sound I guess.

Average to me would be

14"x6.5" snare
12"/14"/16" toms
22" bass drum

14" hats...

Re: favourite drum brand?

Shells = Gretsch
Heads = Remo (Barring my Superkick II but I'm going to swap that for a Powerstroke III)
Hardware = Gibraltar
Stick = Zildjian
Cymbals = Sabian.

Simple really, I guess. I'm...

Re: Open-Handed Players: When did you start?

It seems I go against the grain here - I actually learned to play open handed (I'm a lefty) from the start THEN taught myself crossed. I wished I'd have just learned crossed but left handed - I'd be...

Re: Buying drum stuff

The best way to do it is this:

Sticks, bags, thrones, heads, felt washers, hardware, crap like that = Can be bought online. They either don't change your sound or in the case of heads they're all...

Re: Catalina Club Mod vsCatalina Club Rock

They're from the same line, just the club rock has bigger drums, so the quality is the same. What music you play and how many drums you want (Rock has 2 floor toms) should be the decision maker for...

Re: Why do you use you're hi hat?

I do it because I watched videos of my favourite drummers as I was learning and they did it, so I picked it up.

Aside from keeping time, it teaches you total limb separation. It's helpful for...

I don't mean to sound rude or anything, but you need to read through a little more before firing off a reply. I know good heads make all the difference, that's why I paid an arm and a leg for them....

Intermediate/Pro Snare?

Hey, I'm looking to start saving up for a new snare. Everything I have is pretty decent stuff barring my snare. It's just a cheap Pearl one so I'm looking at other snares, preferably 14x6.5 but I'm...

Re: People don't like multiple mounted toms?

I have a few good reasons why I use 1 up/2 down for my toms.

I'm left handed on a right handed kit - having 2 mounted toms would make far harder than it already is. I have to cross my arms so...
