Re: The thing you bought but you never use

A 8” Sabian splash, haven’t used it in about 15 years or so.

20” Istanbul Agop Flat Ride (with rivets) Bought it for use on an album. Haven’t used it since, about 5 years now.

Re: Do 3/4 and 6/8 ‘flow’ better for you?

I know what you're saying.

My last band was pretty much 90% 3/4 or 6/8 time signatures and I did that for years so became very accustomed to them.

Those variants have a lovely nice swing to...

Re: Is Buddy Rich REALLY the greatest drummer of all time?

I agree. My post included a typo as it should have read "But is he the best?"

He was a phenomenal, absolute force of nature. Quite rightly is still being spoke about and looked up to. I'd...

Re: Rack Toms Angled or Flat

Rack tom always has to be angled for ergonomics and comfort.

Wouldn't be able to play a flat one and I can't understand how most people can.

Sounds like a good evening indeed and congrats on the win! Lady Luck was looking at you indeed.

Not sure about that Dixon logo.

Re: Is Buddy Rich REALLY the greatest drummer of all time?

For me he's the greatest. But isn't he the best? Not so sure about that.

It's all subjective anyway I guess.

Re: Is it acceptable to audition for multiple groups/bands?

I think that's the type of situation Bermuda is talking about, regardless of how often it occurs. I can see his point and agree.

Personally I'd not audition for a gig where deep down I was hoping...

Re: Do You Drum While Not Drumming?

All the time and 90% of the time I don't realise I'm actually doing it until later.

Could be taping on my legs, clicking my fingers or tapping my feet. It's a bit of a problem. Even tap along to...

Re: Was anyone in the audience for Fred Armisen's Drummer's Only comedy show?

Quite liked it myself. Some of the comments above make me wonder if some watched an entirely different show.

Not the greatest stand up show I've seen but I could think of worse ways to spend an...

Re: Your plans for 2018 with drums?

Music-wise. Crack on and continue to create new sounds as a band, arrange a short tour, record the next EP.

Drums alone. Practice more and continue to challenge myself by learning new things.

Re: What are your bass player priorities / red flags?

Oh wow, one player to avoid right there Andy.

For me I'd look for a well seasoned bassist that knows about musicianship and how to lock into the drums instinctly.

I'd also look for someone...

Re: deleted social media

It can be annoying at times but when I find it getting a little too much or I'm using it too much I just put it down for a while.

Nice keeping up to date with friends around the country though....

Re: Amazing Cuban drummer

Brilliant, thanks for sharing. Some foot technique right there!

I was over in Cuba back in 2016 and each drummer I saw in Havana was like getting a masterclass on rhythm. Quite the experience.

Sorry, I really don’t recall posting that.

Just seems like a waste of both of your time, that’s all.

Re: Ludwig Announces New Raw Brass Snare Drums

The saying 'Money for old rope' springs to mind.

Plus you can't beat the look of a finished Black Beauty.

Re: Great tape to cover blisters

It's not all down to poor technique. Some other factors can come into it.

A very hot stage (normally thanks to pesky stage lights) can get your well conditioned hands in a spot of bother during a...
