Re: How long does it take you to set up?

It takes me about 5-7 minutes to set up my 6 piece, 2 crash, 1 china, 1 hi hat kit on stage. My rug is marked where everything needs to be and before my set, I mount all toms, cymbals and stands....

Re: Kick Drum Trigger LIVE

i'm no soundguy but i'm thinking you can talk to him beforehand, and give him a signal before a song to disengage the bass drum mic and engage the trigger module in the PA, and visa versa to go back...

Re: South Florida Metal Heads :)

Yea I understand man. It's common for me to drive 3,4, sometimes 5 or more hours to see a show I like. Anyway, the show is tomorrow and i'm pretty nerve-wracked. I won't be playing my kit or cymbals....

I'm going to quickly resurrect this thread with an update ;)

I broke the news to the guys about two weeks ago and they handled it extremely well. We have had 2 auditions so far, the last kid had...

Re: jordan mancino and his drums.............

I wish I was into metal at 11...

Love Jordan Mancino for sure. In fact after reading the OP, I had to go throw on "Through Struggle" by AILD

Re: Fun on Stage? Presence?

Since most of your limbs are in use the whole time and you're stuck sitting in a chair, a drummer's stage presence is limited :)

That being said, i'll share with you a few of the things I do on...

Hey Dios I live in Florida as well and know about Tobacco Road :)

I had an all too familiar experience playing last Saturday day at the "Next Big Thing" competition at the Revolution. Old yamadog...

I'm torn.

I'm in a situation right now that has been eating at me for quite some time now. I joined a second full-time band last fall, going from Rock music to Metal. It turns out that I like the newer band...

Re: Post Your Greatest Strength

Hmmm...greatest strength. I'd say my groove is somewhat decent, I can hang in the pocket without doing anything too fancy. I have a tremendous backbeat rimshot for sure. I recently broke the piece of...

Re: What First Inspired You

I was probably first inspired when I listened to a few tracks by Dream Theater. It inspired me to pick up one of their earlier DVD's. After seeing Portnoy play on the DVD I think that is when I...

Re: Double pedal/Two bass drums

I'll second most of the reasons mentioned beforehand.

As far as the whole "it's hard to get two bass drums to sound the same" point yes it is. But it also applies to 1 bass drum/double pedal...

Re: 20" bass in rock applications

Back or front seat for the Bass really depends on if my girlfriend is attending said gig or not ;)

I don't think she would appreciate riding second fiddle to the bass drum, although many days I...

Re: 20" bass in rock applications

I currently use a 20 inch kick drum for Rock and Death Metal applications, and I must say I have fallen in love with the tight focused "punch" of a 20 inch birch kick drum. My other kit has a 24,...

Re: I want to see the drummer, not the band

I had the pleasure of seeing Gadd play in my hometown for a tiny little hole in the wall benefit show. I can't recall who he was with but I believe it was a Father/Son duo on Grand Piano and Upright...

Re: why are drums apparently "obnoxious"?

Drums ARE loud, and obnoxious! That's what makes them awesome! But to answer your question, I think that some people get the misconception that drums are loud and obnoxious(in the bad way) because of...

Re: How long could it take to be a good drummer.

Starting at 16 isn't so bad...I started when I was 18... I'm 20 now and I still think i'm a long way from "good". In my opinion "good" isn't a realistic goal...but "better" suits me. I don't think...

Re: Anyone spiffy with kickdrum triggers?

As far as my knowledge goes, triggering a kick goes like this:

You have your trigger PAD which adheres to your drum head. This pad is an electronic sensor that senses vibration(strokes) and...
