Re: Feeling snare offbeats

Here's a pretty basic (in terms of sticking) paraddidle groove I came up with that I think could help with snare offbeats. The trick with this one is to remember to play out the accents on the snare...

Re: Chad Smith Snare

I 1000% agree with this. My school has an Acrolite and it has to be one of my favorite snare drums ever. It has a fat, crisp tone that doesnt ring but doesnt sound choked. There's a reason why...

Re: Can't get my snare to sound good

It may very well be your tuning, which I think is the problem. The link somedrummer posted is a great recource for all types of tuning, especially for snares. If the snare continues to ring after you...

Re: Gavin Harrison here!

Hey again Gavin.

Just another quick question. What do you use for snare and kick heads and how do you tune them? Thanks for any reply.

Re: Gavin Harrison here!

Hi Gavin,

I saw the Futile video the other day, and I first saw it and said, "This guy is a great drummer." But what I really liked was the sound of your toms. Could you possibly tell us what...

Re: Tre' Cool

I can, but anyway...here's my two cents on Tre:

While maybe not being the best drummer that ever lived, Tre is good for the type of music he plays. His beats are very simple (and in some cases, a...

Re: Eloy Casagrande: 14 year old drummer

I saw that too. He seemed worn out. But he has amazing finger and foot technique. I'd probably be tired after playing like that too! He so good rights now its scary...just imagine 5 or 10 years down...

Re: Things you hate to have happen while drumming

This rarely happens to me but I remember the first time it happened I was playing BYOB and I hit myself in the face so hard there was a red dot on my forehead for the rest of the day. And it happened...

Re: Things you hate to have happen while drumming

Another thing I hate is when my sticks start to chip on the tips. It kills the stick defenition on my hi hats and my ride. Plus the sawdust-like stuff that comes off the sticks when you hit your...

Re: Things you hate to have happen while drumming

Vic Firth's website has good sections on rudiments. Here's the link:

The rudiment section is at the bottom.

Re: Things you hate to have happen while drumming

I very much agree. I was almost hit in the eye when I broke one once... I guess that's why I slightly turn my head when I hit my floor tom.

I was once in a band like that. It's very annoying and we got nowhere.

Things you hate to have happen while drumming

I think we all agree that playing the drums is loads of fun but.....
Sometimes, while drumming, things can go wrong. Post anything you hate to have happen while you drum.

1. Hitting your hand...

Re: Bass Drum Head Tuning - A Serious Predicament

I know how you feel Theo. I had the same problem.

What I did was I got a Remo Powerstroke 3 w/ the falam patch on it and tuned it relativley low. Then, I tuned the reso head about medium loose and...

Re: Is 15 too old to start playing?

Of course not! You can start at any age. I'm 13 and I've been playing for about two years (Self-taught myself for one, then got some real lessons). My uncle was 23 when he started. Its never too late...
